From Fangorn Forest to Helm’s Deep   by Chathol-linn 4 Review(s)

That was a beautiful and thought-provoking insight into the journey of Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli into Fangorn's wood. I laughed as well at the tree's description of 'Ax-heart', and smiled (in a saddish way) at the lament that the Elves are departing to go over the sea. Do you write other poems?

Lovely, lovely! I enjoyed that very much. It was beautiful, and yet clear.

Lovely! I particularly like the Elm's reaction to Gimli - a walking stone, his heart bound with a locket of gold. The king will change their world, and one of the elf-kind who woke them is part of a fading people. Very nice descriptions of the three kindreds present, as seen through ancient eyes.

I loved this! The Three Hunters are my favorite characters out of all of Tolkiens, and in a way, people who are so deeply into Middle-earth that they feel the sadness of the Elves passing. I do too, and I've read wonderful fics by wonderful authors who portray the Fellowship's friendship so well that their work makes me laugh, cry, and worry at the same time. Tolkien was a genius, and I'm glad to see some people sticking to the character's canon personality. This was beautifully written, and it's always a plus when there is rhyming and rhythm, because it makes it so much easier and more enjoyable to read. Thanks for writing this, you portrayed the trees of Fangorn beautifully, and also the Three Hunters.

Author Reply: Hi, Nessie. I know what you mean. The poignancy of the passing Elves is one of my favorie themes in Tolkien fan fiction. Tolkien was a genius for making us feel it so deeply, among many other reasons. Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment. Regards - Chathol-linn
