I truely enjoyed this tale of friends having fun. In the mists of all the evil in Middle Earth, this tale brings a calming force to the harden souls of the charaters. Author Reply: Your review is much appreciated and I am pleased you enjoyed the story.

Very nice, jenolas. I liked how you took thoughts from the movies (the drinking game, dancing on the table, etc.) and then turned them to a more Tolkien vein. The ending was particularly nice. It's the company, the friends you are with that makes a tavern truly worth a visit. A good thought to end a story with. LKK Author Reply: Bringing the various bits and pieces together in a more Tolkienesque story was my goal, and I am glad that you see the story that way. It is always rewarding when a reader understands my true intent, and even nicer when I hear of it. Thanks, I liked the ending too. jenolas

That was great! It was wonderful to see what the Fellowship did with their time in Minas Tirith! Legolas singing a drinking song, I can't imagine! Good thing Frodo was helping them to decid which one to teach him or it could have been bad ;) Thank you for sharing, it was lots of fun! Author Reply: I am sure they spent many pleasant hours together, and had plenty of fun when they were finally able to find some free time to relax.

Such a stubborn elf, remains himself whatever the company or task. Just love him and the story, perfectly pitched. Well done Rose Author Reply: I appreciate your comments, thanks so much.

What a sweet little story! I've always felt that Elrond chose Legolas as one of the Nine Walkers because he was young enough to adapt and learn, and find new ways of viewing things that older Elves might not have been able to. I like seeing him learning something new, and enjoying time with his friends. Wonderful. Author Reply: Like the otjers of the Fellowship, Legolas was changed by the experience, and I agree that his younger years as well as living a life of uncertainty and changein Mirkwood was a factor in choosing Legolas. He is defintely very adaptable, as his desire to move to Ithilien shows. Besides, who could resist spending an evening with a merry gruop of hobbits and a dear Dwarf!

A lovely snippet of a tale, but what's wrong with a raunchy tavern ballad? Author Reply: What's wrong with a raunchy tavern ballad? Absolutley nothing, they are ofren the most entertaining to sing or hear, but Frodo was unsure as to Legolas's sensitivity in this area, so was seeking something more 'g rated'. Of course they might later teach him the more 'adult' songs... *grin*

Wow, you *are* productive lately! I really enjoyed this. I like the idea of the Fellowship sharing a house and garden, able to finally find a little peace and always guaranteed friendly faces around. Of course, this particular night the hobbits at least don’t appear to be exactly longing for some peace! I had to laugh at how amazed they all were by the fact that Legolas had never been inside a tavern. I mean, what else could he possibly have been doing for all his long years??! I liked the little reminder of how the elves had always steered clear of men, and of how much was already lost in battles even before the war that these friends experienced – plus, I admire Legolas’ determination that in this new world he will attempt to gain more experience of men and their lives. “There are many lovely maidens in Mirkwood, but it is not their role to serve those well able to help themselves.” Well! Talk about putting people in their place… Hmmn. He did sound a little wistful when talking about courting. I was as curious as Pippin to know if he had an “intended”! Crikey, it must have been uncomfortable for the poor elf to be stuck in a place filled with noise and smoke, as well as so many people staring at him and making nasty comments. I’m glad his friends rallied around him and convinced him to stay. And I do like that tactful innkeeper! It’s so funny the way they take the suggestion of teaching him a song so very seriously. I’m still laughing too at the way Legolas thinks of “Lord Glorfindel” in the same way as he does the Rangers. What a wonderful image then of everyone singing the night away together. “It is not the inn that made the evening enjoyable, it was the company of friends.” Ah, doesn’t that just sum it up perfectly? I loved this. Not only did we get to see Legolas venturing into a situation that was different for him, but it was great to watch as everything around him that was bothering him faded away as he revelled in the company of his friends. It made me smile to see how close they all are:) Ooh, I think I fancy a night in the pub now… Author Reply: Well we all know Legolas has spent many centuries defending his home against Sauron's darkness, and has not really had a chance to live totally carefree as the Hobbits of the Shire were. Also Thranduil preferred isolation from other races, so it would not be too surprising to find Legolas inexperienced in, and curious about, the ways men spent their free time. Too bad we are so far away from each other, Dot or I would be tempted to join you in such a night of fun!

Delightful! An excellent interpretation of the drinking game clip. :-) Author Reply: Thanks, I wondered why everyone assumes Legolas must be well used to taverns when there are none in Mirkwood, or so I am assuming.
