This is very lovely. 'Will anyone else remember his sacrifice?' War is such a terrible thing, I always think of the thousands of soldiers that had died, they must have had families, and wives and friends and people who loved them... yet they are only another dead to the people who did not know them. This was a lovely delineation of Ioreth and Merry recognizing one of those fallen men.

Exceptionaly well written piece, Regina! How often do people really stop to think about who a person is, and not simply discount them as a simple soldier who died in battle and forget them forevermore? Also, I think the language barrier between Ioreth and Edwy was brilliant. Very dark and melancholy story, with something to touch the hearts of everyone. I'll have to try and remember this one the next time the Mithrils come around. Author Reply: I'm so glad you liked this so much, Eomer. This one is very close to my heart, because of my love for Gurney's poem and how much it touches on the current state of things. And I've always had a sneaking fondness for Ioreth, as you can tell. :-) Again, thank you! Regina
