| My! You never cease to amaze me, Dreamflower! You capture every single character flawlessly, and when Tom and Goldberry are in the bargain, that's something to be proud of! Their "voices" really rang true to me...Tom's rhyming, rhythmical speech, Goldberry's gentle lilting tones-and I was listening to a screen reader's...uh...very synthetic computer voice! :) I've always liked good old Tom Bombadil, and I was sorry that Tolkien didn't have the hobbits revisit him on their way home. This was a joy to read-so delightful and yet so sad. And hurrah for Sam for finally learning to swim, and for Goldberry for being the only one who could teach him! :-) God bless, Galadriel | |

| I admit I've been avoiding this fic, since I'm not a fan of Bombadil. But thankfully, he wasn't so annoying here as he is in the books. This really is a lovely story, so happy and yet so sad at the same time. Possibly the last bit of happiness Frodo knew before leaving Middle Earth. And Sam even learned how to swim! Wonderful job, as usual. Author Reply: Thank you for reading it, when you don't care for Bombadil. He is rather an acquired taste. I didn't care much for him at first either, but he's grown on me over the years, and now he's one of my favorites. I think you caught exactly what I was aiming for: one last chance for Frodo to enjoy Middle-earth, and be able to leave reassured that someone is still watching over the ones he cares for most. Just one last little bit of peace of mind for him. I'm very glad you liked the story. | |

| Tom's original message said he could bring a bit of cheer to one who is weary and sad. We all (me and the hobbits that is) thought of Frodo, but now I think it is really meant for all of them. Tom could see the growth, but he could also see there is pain in more than one, and more pain to come. It's good to know that even once Elrond and Galadriel and Gandalf have left, there are still some powerful beings who care for and nurture the hobbits. They do deserve it after all. A lovely story - thank you. Author Reply: Yes, it was meant for them all, after all. I often wondered what Gandalf would have to say when he visited Tom; among other things, I think he would have commended his hobbit friends to Tom's care. As much as he loved them, he would not have left them uncared for. | |

| This was very sweet - I love the happy hobbits and the forest and the water. Tom Bombadil-o and his hey-didly-dill-o folk song-io ness has always driven me potty, but he comes over as a lovely strong character with a lot of depth(-io). Author Reply: Thank you. The first few times I read FOTR, I had much the same reaction to him, but over the years, he's grown on me, and I even like his sing-songy speech patterns. ( It scared me a bit to try and write him, knowing how hard that is to do.) I'm glad his character comes out for you. | |

| I found this to be a gentle tale of friendship and healing. You captured the sound and feel of Bombadil, and the different effect of the Hobbits, very well, mostly through dialog. And I liked the foreshadowing; it added a bit of complexity and tension to the story. Nice job. – Chathol-linn Author Reply: Thank you very much.
