Come to Harm  by Clairon 15 Review(s)

Quite original, and very creepy! I'm looking forward to reading the sequels. Well done!

I liked Aragorn's patient treatment of Faramir (after all, he could have just ordered him to continue acting as Steward). It seems difficult to believe that Wormie has mended his ways; we will find out in the next story? Crafty, old Saruman planning his next move( and setting out to find new minions, LOL) makes an ominous ending. Great story!

Faramir is so noble and self-sacrificing (as usual). So sad that he would consider his own life to be utterly worthless. When he tells Aragorn "save me if you can," you get the feeling he doesn't mean it. And Wormtongue is sleazy (as usual). Though his rather modest request for a small corner of Gondor to settle in is pathetic and touching. Not sure what he could do for an honest living--raise grapes and make the worst vin ordinaire in Middle Earth? However, I don't think he was very wise to double-cross Saruman when the wizard is still on the loose!

So, it sounds like Aragorn and the others have, to a large degree, figured out what happened. Still, it wouldn't hurt if Eomer bounced Wormtongue off the wall a few times, would it? Please...

Great chapter, much angst! I hope that most of these are ideas that Saruman planted. It would be horrible if Faramir had always carried such thoughts in the back of his mind. It was mentioned earlier that Aragorn knew Faramir's "family history," so hopefully he will be merciful and attribute the attack to insanity. Though I'm not sure how much clemency that would purchase in a medieval society...

I had wondered what the ceremony was about--good idea to have the populace (or their representatives) swear fealty. However, I think Aragorn needs to hire new body guards! If everyone saw the green light, is the assumption going to be that Faramir was ensorcelled or that he was somehow using magic? Oh, no, don't put Faramir in the same cell with Wormtongue!

Oooh, I like the backstory on Wormtongue's obsession with Eowyn. It makes you wonder what he was like before he became so warped. Wormie is quite the lady's man--he even gave his hair its biannual washing (that made me laugh out loud)! I saw that scene at the pawnbroker's shop coming--after all, this guy may be a pawnbroker, but he's a pawnbroker of Numenorean descent! Eowyn doesn't seem to know what to do, does she?

Eomer seems more oafish than in the book, but maybe he is just feeling his oats because he is king now. I am a little surprised that Aragorn didn't press Eowyn about Faramir's treaty story, though maybe Aragorn was reluctant to to delve into what appeared to be a problem in their personal lives. Liked Legolas's intuition that all is not well with Faramir (people should ALWAYS listen when Leggy says something is amiss). Well-written dialogue for Gimli, and there's that green light again!

*Whimpers sadly.* What did they do to Faramir? He seems so lost. Too bad Eowyn doesn't have any confidants in Ithilien (in the book, she doesn't seem to have had any women friends or ladies-in-waiting at Edoras, which is a little surprising given that she was the niece of the king). She probably does still feel something of a foreigner among the people of Gondor. Spring had better come soon!

Ew, squirmy-Wormy! He is soooo getting away with if not murder, then conspiracy to commit it.

Is it too much to ask to have Eowyn kill hiim slowly?
