Small  by Pearl Took 5 Review(s)

This is so sweet! I know how it is to look younger and smaller than I really am, and have to sit with the 'children'...so I definitely feel for Pip here. *hugs him*

~Kaylee!!

Author Reply: I'm glad it had a connection for you, Kaylee. My daughter went through that when she was growing up too.

I know just how Pip felt! (And so do our young ones... I keep telling them that good things come in small packages.) Isn't it fun to contemplate that he became one of the tallest hobbits in history?

This is beautifully written and brings the point home with a light touch. Good work on using description to draw the reader in.

I like the image of people stopping in what they're doing to wonder whose the fair voice is. I also love your description of the song itself, the sort of song that hobbits would love.

I wish I had a place like Pip's to go when the world hurts me.

At least Pippin is one day taller than anyone! I'm glad the little wren was able to help Pippin find his own voice, such a sweet piece! Thank you!

A very lovely story. I read it on the Challenge site and I enjoyed it agian just now. You show Pippin's hurt feelings so well and when he discovers that little bird, I can almost hear the thoughts running through his head as he realizes that being tall isn't everything.

I get teary eyed just reading those last few paragraphs, Pearl. Pippin's soft, lovely singing reminds me of how David's harp would soothe the restless soul of King Saul. Pippin singing--your Pippin--does that for me as well. What an inspiring, and beautiful story, Pearl! :-)
