what a tender moment. I love this so much and don't mind rereading many years after. Thank you! Author Reply: Thanks, Peri!

I really wish that you were still writing, GamgeeFest--I would so love to see a story about that thank-you letter which Aragorn wrote to the Gaffer! Sam would have had to read it to him, of course, since the Gaffer can't read. This is a great story, and so is the one covering the birthday celebration in Hobbiton! Author Reply: Hi, KathyG. Do not fear! I actually did write that story. :) It's located in my "Number Three, Bagshot Row" collection and is called "A Kingly Discussion." I'm glad you're enjoying these.

Too bad Aragorn couldn't have listened in on this discussion with his palantir! He would have gotten a real kick out of it, and it would have given him a good laugh. =) Author Reply: I'm sure Sam will be writing all about it in his next letter. :D They are adorable rug rats, aren't they?

I love a good Sam H/C fic! Thanks for writing this one. I'd love to see some more written, too. Another about Bilbo AND Frodo looking after a sick and/or injured Sam would be nice! =) Author Reply: Thank you, Kathy G! I don't know if I have one that quite fits your bill, but there are a couple of Bilbo watching over little Sam in my Number Three, Bagshot Row series, and I have a longer h/c with Sam called In the Bleak, Cold Winter with Frodo, Merry and Pippin all helping to care for him.

I love that lullaby! That is just wonderful, loving, and just as good as Queen Galadriel used to do - which is a huge compliment, if you haven't read any of hers to know that already! I used a lot of them in my own stories years ago now. I love this gift Rose gave, the same one Frodo gave to his Sam and also I'm sure Sam gave to him - it's so him too! Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: Thanks, Antane! Frodo has always been a caring master and friend, and that assured Rose when Sam left. Now she gets to repay him for the kindness he's always shown to Sam. I love when things come full circle like that. :) I'm sure Sam did find an occasion or two to sing that one to Frodo himself. I'm sure there was great use for it as they were recovering in Gondor. :D

Sweet TLC and I love that Frodo put on his 'stern Master face' to quell Sam's protests. :) Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: His 'stern Master face' was the quickest way to get Sam to listen. Frodo doesn't like doing that normally, but he had no issues with it here. Thank you very much, dear! :)

This is such a sweet tale, a love story in its own wonderful way. Love the idea of Sam sleeping under the tree and the care and solace he received and his sadness and hope and the delight of the tree - and ours - to see him smile. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: You're the first to suggest the hobbit was Sam, which I find fascinating. I had a hobbit in mind while writing it, but purposely didn't put a name, for really, how would the Mallorn know it? I do imagine that Sam would have taken comfort from his tree (and I do think he would consider it to be his) as he sought to understand his master's illnesses and especially after Frodo sailed. It could just as easily be either one. And it would have bloomed on Sam's (assumed) birthday too. :D Wonderful!

There must have been lots of meetings like this. Thanks for letting us be a fly on the wall on this one. Namarie, God bless, Antane :) Author Reply: I'm sure there were, especially as the Birthday approached. Poor Sam needs someone to talk to about his worries. ;) Thanks for reading!

Yet in the end he will find Estella in his own arms. A beautiful gapfilling vignette. Poor Sam, worrying himself sick over Frodo selling to the S-Bs! Author Reply: He certainly will. They'll have their HEA, they'll just have to work harder for it than others. ;) Sam wouldn't like the idea of the S-Bs in Bag End - and no doubt ruining *his* garden! Thanks for reading, dear!

Ah, urgent and bittersweet, you've done a wonderful job of catching the flavour of what must have been a time of uncertainty, shading to desperation as Frodo put his plans into motion. Poor Merry. In a way, he's taking care of Estella as best he can, what with his plans to leave, and no certainty of returning. Author Reply: Thank you, dear! This was definitely a time of uncertainty for all of them, and Merry doesn't even have Estella for comfort. I'm so glad you enjoyed this! *hugs*
