Of Merry and Pippin  by GamgeeFest 8 Review(s)

I don't know how I missed this adorable story! I saw the link you left on LJ for Anso and I came over to read and realized that I'd never read this one before. I loved Pippin's idea of a gift for Merry and Merry's idea for where the gift should be kept. This was darling! Glad I found it.

Author Reply: I figured that Pippin would think giving all of Merry's toys back would be a grand gift. :D And Merry's sharp enough - even while experiencing flu head - to realize that Pippin really still wants to play with them! It's a nice little compromise.

I'm glad you found this! *hugs*

The last paragraph in this charming scene is the key. At the age of 19 in human years Frodo's wisdom is sure and deep. According to his example I burned this picture in to my mind.

Author Reply: Frodo does have a lot of wisdom for his years. He's been through so much in his short life, and it's taught him to appreciate little moments like these. Thanks for reading and I'm glad you enjoyed it!

It's been a while since I read this. Beautiful images, Merry and Pippin cuddled together with the stuffed pony and the box of used toys nearby, Frodo delighting in the vision of it.

Author Reply: Thank you! It does make you want to grab a hobbit and a blanket and curl up by the fire, doesn't it? That's all the comfort one really needs.

Awww! Nevermind, this one is now my favorite. Pippin is soo cute! *squeaks and hugs him* He's the sweetest hobbit ever. ^^ Also, is it "snuggly" or "snugly"? *cocks head questioningly* I think it only has one 'g'. Hope I'm not embarrassing you, but I just thought you should know. ^^

Author Reply: Pippin is just so adorable, trying to take care of his Merry and make him feel better. And it looks like it could be spelled either way. The red swiggly line didn't show up on my Word doc anyway, so I'm saying that it's correct. :P

Thanks for reading!

Awww. I know just how Merry feels, have felt that way myself more than once.

I love the birthday present, and the solution they come up with to where to keep it... and what Pippin was meaning (that he'd put them back in the box).

Lovely picture at the end, I can just see it. Thanks!

Author Reply: I just got over the flu myself, so it was easy enough to describe how Merry felt. I'm sure Merry didn't really mind Pippin keeping his toys in the first place, Pippin probably just caught him in a bad mood or something. If I had any artistic skills, I would draw that, but I don't. Platy said she might draw something. If she does, I'll post a link. :)

Thanks for reading!

Awwww! Pippin is so good at looking after Merry. And patient to wait to sneak out to see Merry. All the characters are spot on. Excellent job, eager for more.

Author Reply: Well, Pippin really had no choice but to wait. The guest of honor can't just leave his birthday party - unless of course he has a magic ring to help him disappear. ;) And Pippin's stuffed pony always makes him feel better, so it only makes sense (to him) that it would help Merry feel better also. :) Thanks for reading!

Ahhh! What a sweet little cousin. How could you not want to protect him.

Author Reply: Oh, I'm sure Pippin has his moments when you just want to strangle him, lol. But he is the sweetest thing most times, isn't he? He's getting some good practice for taking care of his Merry later on. Thanks for reading!
