Ooh, villains are such fun to write, aren't they? These two are quite the pair; Evil and Pathetic Servant Of Evil. You really pulled out all the stops with this one, making old Saruman deliciously conniving and yet compelling. All he needs is a white cat to stroke menacingly. And there's Grima, only human, letting his lust run away with him. You get the feeling that he's kind of shocked that Saruman a) knows about and b) would say out loud just what he wants to do with Éowyn. A vulgarity from the super-cultured carries a lot of weight, and you handled it well, letting the moment speak for itself and not overloading it. And now Grima must wear a leash, like the dog that he is. Author Reply: ROTFLMAO! I did have a lot of fun with this, it was incredibly easy to write - though I most admit the thought of Blofeld never entered my mind (mind you Saruman is just the kind of man to lower people into shark infested pools.) It's very hard to picture Saruman thinking of Grima with anything other than contempt - and it's a lot of fun to describe Grima getting just what he deserves. | |
