Oh, I am *so* glad that they were there when Frodo woke up. That's one scene that JRRT never gave us: Frodo waking up the first time. He had shifted to Sam's POV, and we never got to see that. But he *must* have seen his cousins that morning, for he didn't seem surprised to see them at the feast that night! Thank you for including that scene!

*sigh* Very satisfying. Of course if Pippin were conscious he'd be waiting for Merry. No doubt about it.

I always *love* scenes of Gimli finding Pippin! It's just so special, and creates a very special bond between the two. I also like the way Pippin thought at first that he was home, before realizing that everything had happened. And his appreciation of the meal at the end of the chapter was very hobbity.

Goodness! I can't imagine what the Mouth of Sauron was thinking to try and grab Pippin, but it didn't do him any good with Beregond around! And the telling of Pippin's battle with the troll was very exciting!

I like Miran's advice to Pippin: basically "kill or be killed". A hard thing for such a peaceable being as a hobbit to have to learn.

And now you show Pippin's hobbity resilience. I love his optimistic hope that he might somehow meet up with Frodo and Sam. And Beregond is a true friend.

That's a wonderful song! No wonder it inspired Pippin.

Uh-oh. What happened to the one who was guarding Pippin? This sounds ominous.

Oh my! This is quite a skirmish! Who has saved him, I wonder? Maybe Legolas? Gandalf is not going to be pleased that Pippin ignored his advice.

Poor Pippin! Just as being left behind was horrid for Merry, this march had to be horrid for him, knowing he'd left Merry behind in despair, not knowing how Frodo and Sam fared, alone among all the Big Folk--although this time, at least he had the Big Folk of the Fellowship with him, more or less. I'm so glad you did not put boots on him. I always think that's a big mistake in fics where they have Pippin wear boots when he's on duty.
