It seems I'm going around collecting other Boromir lovers! Have I found one more?

Author Reply: :holds up hand and waves: count me, count me! Yep, definitely a Boromir lover. Nice to meet you.

It was a sacrifice. Flick these are marvelous. Lindorien

Author Reply: It was a sacrifice.

This grew out of conversations at HA about whether Galadriel actually 'tempted' Boromir when she entered his mind -- whether the whole thing was a set up. Even if it didn't go quite that far, I've sometimes thought that both Galadriel and Gandalf knew/should have know what was going to happen. The fact the Gandalf saw exactly what was going on at the Council, knew the whole family dynamic of Denethor's family, and still didn't say boo against Boromir going on the quest is suspicious. So I Boromir both *was* a sacrifice to the greater plan (passively) in addition to heroically sacrificing himself for M and P at the end.

Thanks for your feedback on my bits!

It's so freaking unfair. He shouldn't have died. Absolutely shouldn't have died.

**rips her copy of LOTR into tiny pieces**

**remembers herself**

**looks to Flick, embarrassed**

"Very nice drabbles," Lindorien mutters, beating a hasty retreat, hoping nobody notices all the ripped up pieces of red leather stained with her tears.

Amen! Preach on! It really sort of ruined the last movie for me, because, dammit, I missed Boromir.

No, no, no! Not before you finish your version, please. ;)

Thanks so much. I'm going come back and look at your kind words from time to time, 'cause I'm having a devil of a time writing anything new at the moment.

I'm not really a poetry fan, but I found this quite touching. Thanks for sharing your gift with us.

All I can say is, wow.

Ann

Author Reply: Glad it worked! Thanks. I don't have the creative energy to write one of those big AU narrative where he lives (although I love to read them), but I found myself watching the coronation scene in RotK thinking, "It's not b**dy *fair*!"

Oh Flick this is lovely! I've always been moved by that brief glimpse in the film. Thanks for bringing it to life again.

Author Reply: Thanks, Ann. I feel the same way about that moment in the film: so small and says so much about him.
