This was hilarious, though I'm not familiar with the original. I like the line about being fed up and needing some space. Well done! This was a good read. Author Reply: Thank you! It was fun to do - the original is a tradition English folk song about a girl who enlisted in the army to follow her love, and movie Arwen seemed just that sort of girl! I'm glad it amused you.

Cute, cute, cute.....and I haven't even read the original *g* Author Reply: Thank you. I used to sing the original when I was a little kid at school. It can be found on the net - not that knowing it makes any difference, except you can find the tune!

I can't decide if I like the song or the author's notes better! This is TERRIFIC! I'd say more, but I must wipe the coffee off the monitor again. Lindorien Author Reply: Your poor monitor! Thank you. It does actually sing - I've been sitting in the car trying out the verses I can remember. (I enjoyed doing the author's notes.)

LOL! I like your version better than the movie version, for sure (love the footnote about "urban myth") The line spacing thing... I too have wrestled with it, in posting poetry. Try this: on edit, go to the end of the line and hit delete (the next line will move up and crowd the line you're on. Don't move the cursor! Hold down the shift key and press "enter". The line will move back down to its proper place, and remain single spaced. To put a double space (in poetry), simply hold down the shift key and press "enter" twice. This works on a PC. If you've a Mac then I haven't a clue. On original writing, just holding down the shift key and pressing enter at the end of each line will do the same trick. HTH, Lin Author Reply: Thank you for your advice - it worked. You are a genius. I nearly didn't put this up, because I had tried about five times and it still looked silly. I'm glad they painted Arwen out of Helm's Deep - better Haldir and his archers than Xe-Arwen-na the Warrior Princess. Thanks again.
