Oh, this brought a tear to my eye. How often do fathers leave with words for the 'little soldiers' they leave behind, with a special memory to hold them over while they are away? Boromir did that for his brother. I like the idea that Boromir had a talisman with him on the journey too. I saw a chess piece used once as well, and it was very touching. Thank you for sharing this! Author Reply: Oh, this brought a tear to my eye. Glad it worked. I'm such a softie, that I tend to make all my characters softies as well. If I ever write Sauron, it will probably be an AU in which he repents and they all have tea at Bag End afterwards... ;)

This was touching. The Raven is such an appropriate symbol. Fileg is right but you do her proud too. Author Reply: Fileg is right but you do her proud too. Thanks for saying that! I'm always afraid when I touch on someone else's world. I was at a sci-fi con this weekend and there was a lot of discussion by author's about writing with other people, and writing in other people's universes, that was fascinating.

This is lovely, flick! I've often thought that it was Boromir's healing love that made Faramir the man he was. I'm glad you saw the same. Ann Author Reply: Thanks, Ann. I've always been touched by Tolkien's comment about how much they loved each other even though they were such different personalities. Given their family situation, it makes sense to me that the relationship was forged in the difficulties of their childhood.
