Well, I'm glad they got that figured put! And Frodo married -- it's a nice thought, right? :-)

OMG!!! I absolutely adored this! I *LOVED* the ending!! Frodo, truly happy, makes me just want to dance. Great, great job!

Author Reply: Thank you, thank you for the words of encouragement! It is just the kind of happy ending I like to imagine. I was never quite satisfied that Frodo had to sail away in the real version...

I dug up my original review of that chapter of "A Healer's Tale":
FantasyFan Reviewed Chapter: 41 on 8/9/2005 I have always wondered if there wasn't someone who wanted to match Frodo with Pearl. Of all the handy lasses, she is of the most appropriate age, and I would think that they were in each other's company often enough for the suggestion to come up. And now that you've put the notion in Pippin's head, I'm surprised even more that Frodo didn't end up marrying her. Pippin doesn't let go of an idea too easily!

Frod did deserve a plump wife and a passel of children. How nice of you to give them to him! Now he'll be Pippin's brother, and Pip may never let Merry forget it. (Although it's quite funny that both Pippin and Merry are surprised by the news. Frodo can be a sly one, when he needs to. It would be much harder for Merry and Pippin, distracted by good fortune, to spy on and worry about a contented Frodo, than it was for the original consipiracy to form around Frodo's own worries and darker secrets.)

You'll have to write another epilogue someday where one of Merry's daugthers marries one of Frodo's sons, (or Frodo's daughter and Merry's son, or maybe both!) so that the family trees can become even more intertwined. I do feel a little sorry for Isumbard, though. He and Pearl were happy, and now that won't happen.

Author Reply: Arrgh, I typed up a thoughtfully written (tho very belated reply) on this silly sticky keyboard (sticky spill yesterday -- well, the day before yesterday, now) and something odd happened and it disappeared.

In short, it would be fun to marry off one of Frodo's children to one of Merry's, with Pippin as commentator or something. Would have to think of another sweet girl for Isum... he certainly deserves someone sensible, loving, and easily brought to laughter, as I imagine Pearl.

Hope you and yours had a blessed holiday celebration.

Aha! Satisfying, this! And now perhaps Pippin and Merry are equally brothers to Frodo! Heh! Hope Pearl appreciates what SHE is getting into! Heh!

Author Reply: LOL! This is the sort of AU I love, where everyone ends happily, "to the end of their days" is how I think Sam put it, once upon a time.

LOL! I just love Pippin tormenting Merry over the mail! What a fun AU! I've always remembered this one fondly-- the ultimate end of Frodo's growing "transparency". Personally, I'd love an AU where he could still be invisible if he wished, from time to time. *giggle*

'I only hope that Frodo knows what he's getting himself into,' he said.

'Getting himself into?' Pippin said, puffing himself up a bit as he began to perceive some insult or other towards his beloved elder sister Pearl. 'Getting himself into?' he repeated.

'Marrying into such a family,' Merry said, smug, and then he grabbed Pippin's head, pulled it down despite Pippin's best struggles, and gave the unruly curls a good, hard rubbing with his knuckles. 'Acquiring such a brother!'

Perfect ending! *giggles madly*

Author Reply: That sort of AU (invisibility at will) sounds like fun, although I think Pippin would be the one who'd enjoy such a thing the most. Still, it would come in really handy when it came to (not) entertaining the S.-B.'s, I suppose...
