My Dear Bandobras  by Le Rouret 5 Review(s)

Why is Legolas settling for "acceptable"? And this little twit won't make much of a Lady. I'm still with Bandy on this one.

I liked Gimli's explanation for the divided opinions on Legolas's marriage!

Congratulations, Le Rouret, for showing that Elven males can be as foolish as human ones :)

I am still laughing over Bandy's backhanded compliment to Legolas' mother! :)

Oh dear, he really IS smitten and do I detect a secret love for him in Seimiel? Is THAT where the tragedy is going to come in? Will she fade? Please say no!?

How long before he sees Laustaire is vain as a peacock, a spoiled brat and hasn't an ounce of common sense in her head? That's the distinct impression I'm getting. I still say if she can't bear to be around both Dwarves and Hobbits, she has GOT to go and BEFORE the wedding! Can Elves divorce? I can't recall a thing in canon that says they can. *whimper*

Woman you're going to give me an ulcer with worrying over this story! *rueful grin*

"...you do not know how lovely she is, and how vivacious and animated..."
That doesn't justify someone being in love with somebody else! There has to be more. Legolas should marry someone who he could have inteligent conversations with, someone interesting and intelectual. Not some foolish little girl who likes ribbons all over, dresses in pink and chases fluffy bunny rabbits under the candy rainbow! Erm... sorry.
And don't get me wrong, I love this story.

H'm, now this border skirmish sounds interesting. May we hope that someone will hit Legolas upside the head with a lance, and hence knock some sense into him? Bandobras is right: he doesn't love the fluttering little twit. Thank the Valar for that. He's convinced himself that he has to stick by her, out of duty, but he's not happy. And he won't be happy. All this talk of help running the demense, and whatnot - it's all politics and duty, and not an iota of real happiness in the lot.

Really, you've done a great job showing how unhappy Legolas is, all while he's trying so hard to convince himself that this is the right thing to do. That takes talent, to show what a character is really feeling while he himself claims the opposite. Nicely done.
