My Dear Bandobras  by Le Rouret 4 Review(s)

Legolas the Midwife! LOL. Poor guy. It appears that even Elves have issues with over-fancy clothes that attract too much attention. Maybe this chapter should have been called "Legolas meets the Orlando Bloom fangirls"?

I also like the notion of Legolas meddling in Pippin's love affair and pushing him to marry Diamond so that Bandy can come to Ithilien. He's not above playing the match-making game himself, is he.

I must sincerely apologize for not getting a review to you before this...I have been faithfully read this new story of yours, but RL has had a choke hold on me once again and it has been a real struggle getting on the computer. But I just finished chapter 8 today and just had to let you know how very much I am enjoying "My Dear Bandobras"!

First off, this is rather an intriguing way to do a story - very novel - and I really been enjoying the interplay back and forth between Legolas, Bandobras, and Legolas's parents that this way of writing magnifies.

Your unique use of language in this story (a continuation from "The Green Knight") continues to astonish me and I find myself continually "tickled" by the "turns-of-phrases" and the way things are described.

And speaking of being tickled, Legolas's letters, in particular, have really been a hoot and I can well see people dubbing him "Legolas the merry"!! LOL! And this banter back and forth about him finding a wife...this whole thing makes me laugh every time I think on it!!

So far, I haven't been able to decide if your warning at the beginning of this story about this story not being a happy one is a serious warning about something "foreboding" coming up, or a facetious one regarding Legolas's "unhappiness" about his lack of a wife!

In any case, as in your previous story, the quality of your writing really stands out and I'm enjoying this story immensely. Once I get some extended time on the computer, I'm going to start badgering my friends to get in here and start reading it!!

Well, it looks like my prince is still holding his own, so I'll breathe easier about that. Though I've no doubt that he outshone everyone else at those banquets and balls and whatnot - far as I'm concerned, when he showed up in his circlet at the end of ROTK, and then it cut away to Arwen, there was NO comparison. But perhaps I'm biased.

And it is nice to know that he's got other things on his mind besides parties and courtship rituals. I was beginning to wonder.

The vision of Gimli fiddling with lapels and working out how to do them better in whalebone is exceedingly amusing. When is he planning on setting up his tailor's shop?

Poor Legolas the Preoccupied, Legolas the Midwife. And Legolas the Unavailable. Or Legolas the Persecuted.
