Watcher on the Heights  by Chris 2 Review(s)

The lighting of the beacons was such an important event in the books...but in the movie, the power of that moment still brings tears to my eyes. This vignette is wonderful, and gives names and faces to the men who manned those lonely mountain peaks month after month, year after year. You did such a great job of catching the despair of a sensitive man who had waited all those years for an answer to the gathering darkness, and then finally began to lose hope. That you allowed Coren to be the one to see Amon Din lit, and to fire his own response was almost as powerful as that last tear. Well done indeed!

Absolutely beautiful fleshing out of one of the pivotal moments in both the book and the film. I like the way you have worked out the details of how the duty of keeping watch on the beacons is done. And I think that you have fleshed out your characters wonderfully in just this little vignette.
