That was very nicely done indeed. I liked how you portrayed Pippin's nervousness about going on but how in the end both he and Merry are resolved to go if Frodo has to. Well done, thank you! Author Reply: Thank you! It was so nice to read your lovely comments and to be reminded of my very first story - many thanks for the excuse to re-read it! :)

Great Story! I love reading about the Gandalf-Pippin-relationship. Should be more of it. *g* Author Reply: Thank you for your comments, and for reading my story! :D

Very nice. Must be one of those "cheerful things" Pippin was complaining about Gandalf saying to him. I really enjoy the picture of Pippin and Gandalf and their relationship. And I love the ending. We know that these two would not consider going home if Frodo doesn't. Author Reply: I love Pippin and Gandalf moments, and those hints that Pippin gives about previous run-ins with Gandalf while Frodo was asleep really amuse me. Pippin might not have all the facts straight but he knows where his loyalties lie! Thanks for reading :)

I thought the dialogue in this was wonderful. The tone is so natural and hobbity. I hadn't thought about how dangerous even going home would have looked to these hobbits who had just had such a harrowing trip coming to Rivendell. Author Reply: The poor hobbits didn't have much to look forward to whatever they ended up deciding, did they? Thanks for your kind comments! :)

What a wonderful scene! Merry is so perceptive, and Pippin is finally realizing that there are still secret and dangerous things ahead, no matter which direction they go. Very, very nice. Author Reply: Thanks, shirebound! I suppose Pippin hadn't thought about anything beyond getting to Rivendell and being safe again, and with all those nice Elves about it was probably quite easy to forget the danger all around them :)
