I like the Eowyn point of view. And I'm glad to find out more about Imogen. I hope she makes it through the war. I find that Aud hasn't. And I don't know yet about Aelfgifu. Interesting. Very interesting. But do I take it that this doesn't go any further? I shall just have to look out for Elfhelm's story. I'm glad you pointed to this story - I've enjoyed it. Author Reply: Actually, it is supposed to go further. I've just run into a massive writer's block several years ago with the story. I'm still planning to finish it one day, though. No worries about Imogen. :) Aelfgifu didn't even exist in my concept of the court of Meduseld when these two chapters were written. I'll try to work her in later. I've grown quite fond of her.

I do like Eowyn not falling instantly for Aragorn. And her perception of what the his arrival must have meant to Boromir. It's not as if they've just been looking after Gondor for a couple of weeks while the King was on holiday. They've been de facto rulers of Gondor for a millennium. Legolas makes a good messenger at a sad time. And it's not surprising that Eowyn has plans. Especially after the rather patronising manner in which she was granted the rule! Author Reply: Yep, this whole story was inspired by a big debate on one of the Tolkien lists where people seemed all too eager to label her as a deserter. That angered me to no end, and what do I do when I'm mad? You've guessed it right: I write another story. ;)
