Sad, but with hope at the end. Poor Glorinon, and poor Thranduil as well--Dagorlad cast a long, long shadow over Eryn Lasgalen. Lovely answer to the challenge. Author Reply: Thanks for the review! I believe that the Silvan folk will never recover from the carnage at Dagorlad, although Thranduil is lucky in having his wife and family there for him to help him overcome it. I hope I did the tumultous emotions he must have been feeling justice!

Very sweet moments between father and son. Poor Glorion! I imagine that many woodland warriors suffered after the Last Alliance. And the families of the dead would have too. I wonder what all that did to the population of the realm. Author Reply: To have so many of their people die (in what some might have considered a needless sacrifice) must have hit Thranduil and his people hard indeed. Which makes their strength in standing up to the shadow that grew in their homeland even more admirable! I'm glad you enjoyed the addition of young Legolas, which really made me smile, and hopefully will convince even MORE people that Thranduil is not an abusive-drunken-rapist father!!!!

Poor Thranduil, to lose such a good friend to the sea-longing, and still suffer such regrets over Dagorlad. It's good that he has his wife and two sons to bring him happiness. Jay Author Reply: Yes, I always find that it's even sadder to say goodbye to somebody when you know your life will carry on while theirs won't. The great battle saw the deaths of so many warriors, and how would or could a king and captain react to that?

Ai, seems the evening for melancholic tales. Well, this is a lovely one. Bittersweet, but lovely. A terrific job with the challenge. Author Reply: Thanks, Karri, sorry about the gloom, I'm not very good at happy stories! ;) Thought it was especially apt since it was a farewell challenge!
