This is the best "Thain" story that I have ever read on any site! LOL I love it because it reminds me of how hobbits are in their nature. Pippin is still Pippin in this story and Merry sees to it that he can remain that way. They are still two fun-loving hobbits, just older. Pippin has responsibilities but he still has time for himself. I don't think that the hobbits were as formal with their Thain as some stories make it seem. This one hits the perfect note for me. Thank you for writing the Thain as a regular hobbit rather than royality. Great hobbit sense!

This is so good--all the fears and doubts coming out, causing him to regress to his youthful action of making himself scarce, and Merry, of course, to the rescue. I loved the way Merry sat down and just began soothing him, letting him know that he was not alone, and that he *could* cope. He's going to make a wonderful Thain, and Merry needn't worry that he's created a monster. LOL!

Lovely, how you detail every twitch and fear Pippin feels as he sits at the Thain's desk for the first time *as* the Thain. And His boyishness resurfacing as his insecurities and new responsibilities weigh him down. The Master of Buckland soothing the new Thain of the Shire in their childhood hideaway...loved it! :-) Pippinfan Author Reply: Thank you again. You are so encouraging to me. You're a dear!
