Once again, good fics -- especially the funny one at the beginning. Can't really pull anything over on Sam, can you? :-) Author Reply: Thank you. I just love Sam outwitting the King!

How on earth did I manage to miss these? And I so love the wrangling over Frodo's rags--and Aragorns, and then Gandalf's! Wonderful! Tolkien did allow a bit of a plot hole there, as he says first Frodo was naked save for Sam's cloak, and then says the orc rags would be displayed, although I suspect it was Sam's orc rags that would be displayed as Frodo's had reportedly gone down the crack. And to see Earendil delighted in the knowledge of the new age as his granddaughter quickens from her husband, his even greater grandchild.... Beautiful. Author Reply: Thank you so much, Larner. I love writing these short scenes, which enable us to imagine so much about what "might have been".

I love how clever and determined you depict Sam here! LOL! "Mother...if only you could have been here to see this." Aww! *wipes eyes* "To choose the time of one's death?" A rare and strange gift I'm not sure I'd want. And the last-well, to pick out my favourite part, I'd have to quote the whole thing! :-) A beautiful moment between Aragorn and the Evenstar. Loved them! God bless, Galadriel Author Reply: Thank you so much. I enjoy pulling together tiny ficlets like these and putting them all in one place. I'm proud of them all, and thrilled that there are folks to share them with. *hugs you*

"To choose the time of one’s death? A strange gift indeed. The blood of Westernesse… Much was implied in the words of Mithrandir -- that I may outlive she whom I love; that I may live to see generations yet unborn, and the restoration of lands ruined by war; that someday, I and my King may be the only Men left alive who remember what was, and what might have been. " This is a marvelous passage - Few writers (to my knowledge) have addressed the problem that long-lived veterans of the Ring War will suffer - that there will come a time that they'll be the few, or perhaps the only ones, who will recall the time when not only their lives but their entire world was in terrible danger of destruction. And it will be particularly difficult after decades of peace and prosperity. But my favorite line of all was Sam's saying "reassuringly" to Aragorn that he's sure they'll erect statues of Aragorn, not to worry...Hee! Loved the bit with Earendil noticing the change in Music, and that a new Age had begun. Especially since Earendil is Arwen's grandfather.... These are really lovely ficlets. Author Reply: There's so much yet to be explored in the world of Middle-earth and its wonderful inhabitants, and I love trying to imagine the "what if's". What a lovely review, thank you.

*Giggle!* That first one had me grinning like a loon; I love your characterization of Sam and Aragorn together. Perfect! The second one was amazing. I don't know how many times I've seen something or experienced something and wanted to share it with one of my grandparents who's not here anymore. A link between the characters I had not thought of before... The third one - I'd never thought of that concept either, that Faramir might be able to make that choice as Aragorn did. The last one - a lovely bit, with Aragorn's lingering regret and insecurity and the love overwhelming both. Author Reply: Thanks, songspinner. It's such a joy and challenge to "fill in the blanks" in the Tale -- I always learn intresting things about our beloved characters, and want to share what I've discovered! :)

Those ficlets were wonderful, every single one of them. The first one had me laughing out loud, and I marvelled at Sam's bravery, asking Aragorn to put his old clothes on display as well ... he he he ... and Gandalf's hat *snort* The second was so sweet and brought to my mind what those four had in common. Even if there is no source in canon concerning the fate of Gimli's mother, it is more than likely that he, too, had already lost her. The third was wonderful as well. Faramir has not forgotten Gandalf's well-wishes, and there is no occasion more fitting than the birth of a child. The fourth left me with a warm and fuzzy feeling. For one, I was glad that Arwen did not regret her choice, and Eärendil paying his homage to the couple was a wonderful twist. And I loved the way you hinted that there might have been more that happened in that particular night. Author Reply: I'm so happy you enjoyed them! What a joy to share these little stories. :)

“All right, then,” Sam sighed with relief. “So you’ll be displayin’ your Ranger clothes with honor, too?” Hee hee. Sam just innocently blinks his eyes at King Aragorn while he neatly turns the tables on him? Now that is just priceless. Right up there with the scene where Merry wakes up in the Houses of Healing and Strider teases him about "losing" his pack. Love it! Thanks! and how's that dramatic Barrows story coming along? Not that I'd ever try to rush you or anything. Author Reply: Thanks, Esamen! That Sam... you just can't underestimate him. Honestly, I haven't forgotten about the Barrow-wights story; it's just waiting its turn! I have a little bit more to go on "Estel's Birthday", then there's a short story I need to write, THEN it'll be Barrow time! Thank you for being so supportive.
