I like this poem. It's an interesting idea- what do mortals think of elves? most poems on this sort of subject are from the elves' pov. Hope to see some more work like this in the future! |

I love the rhythm of this, the beat and meter of the words is spot on. There's just such a perfect blend of a down-home type of earthiness and a shade of humor to make the epic more human. Very nicely done. |

I usually don't like - don’t writers groan when a review starts out this way? But bear with me - free verse. Give me structured rhymed poetry any day, is what I'll usually say. But Noldo had presented a poetic picture of Beren and the free verse works perfectly. It is very difficult to pull off, and when a poet misses, free verse gives them little place to hide.
I enjoyed the details about Beren's parental relationships. I liked the self-portrait that emerged as Beren compared himself, his family, and his race, to Luthien of the Elves. Poignancy in a few powerful words. Good Job! - Chathol-linn |
