what a lovely tender scene you've described between Pippin and Merry~ i love teh care the cousins have with each other and you indeed described well why Merry had such pride to be a Knight of Rohan. =) i love this paragraph: “I`m not quite sure what to say. I put my sword in the King`s lap and pledged to serve him because he was kind to me and because he believed in me. He made me feel capable of doing something. I was so lonely Pip. You had gone off to Minas Tirith with Gandalf. Frodo and Sam – I didn`t know where they were. Aragorn had hinted that he thought my path lay with King Thčoden, and then at Helm’s Deep the King said that I might ride with him. He wanted me, and I was filled with love for him at that moment and so offered him my sword. Thčoden took me into his fold. For a time he was like a father to me.” i always want to hear more stories on Merry's feelings when all had gone east other than he has... it'll be interesting if there were more ficlets/drabbles/stories dealing with those feelings. ;) (hehe..i'm an angst lover too ;) very canonical and believable~ thanks for writing this. Author Reply: Thank you for your nice comment! I`m gld you liked it. I love seeing more of Merry alone with the Big People stories too. :) | |
