How absolutely unique this story is! I could see it all in my head while I read it. It would make a fantastic adventure series on tv! I couldnt stop reading and it was both rather creepy and humourous. Im absolutely intrigued. Somehow I feel a bit related to Pippin and Eowyn hahaha.I would have been stupid or curious enough to do the same:D This story makes me think also of my childhood when we ran in the long mazelike corridors in the basement of the large block of flats we lived in. Well it wasnt close to the size of Minis Tiriths citadell but for a small girl it was creepy enough with dank air, dark corners, many Doors, spiderweb and as we thought"scary" neighbours yelling at uS to stop our mischief. This story made me so happy!

This is a scary fun story.Have you got any more that involes all of them? As the king stated there a more rooms to explore.Maybe you can throw in Celeborn Elrond and company,or a mystery or two in Rivendale or the other elven havens before they sail.Looking forward to more of these wonderful stories. WOW! This is such an amazing story! I've never read anything like it before. You had me hooked in the very first chapter, I couldn't stop reading it. It is very orginal and creative. You are a fantastic writer with a great eye for details and such. I really enjoyed reading this story. It will be one that I read over and over again!

A thoroughly delightful work, with a well-framed plot, good dialog, and everyone was in character. Also, since I didn't find this story until after it was finished, I didn't have to wait two years!

Well, I was going to go finish reading this slowly, but I couldn't help myself. ;) This was a very satisfying read! This genre of story-telling fits very well into the Middle-earth verse, and I actually didn't see it as much of an AU, really. Admittedly, I expected a lot more Masquerade-related intrigue, but this was still really good - action, intrigue, drama, tragedy, appropriate humour and just the right hint of romance... and all in the course of four days! What more could a reader ask for in a good novella, eh? :D It was heart-warming to see that Alatarel, Amorth and Ilriya finally achieved some peace - and that bit was beautifully written, by the way! Although, really, the flashbacks in particular were splendidly executed, in terms of their style and evocation of a cold, enigmatic atmosphere. The ending of the epilogue (and the character of the Librarian really) seems to leave some tantalising possibilities... if you ever do write any more, I will certainly be in line to read/cheerlead! I'm so glad you stuck by this throughout the two years (wow!) and finished it, and I wish I could leave a worthy review - in any case, I'd just like to say that it's a been a gripping, thrilling journey, reading this story. Thank you for sharing this with us! :)

This was such a brilliant chapter that I absolutely had to stop reading and leave a review. I don't read much as far as horror or Gothic novels go, but man, I was holding my breath in anticipation as Lothiriel told her story - very evocative writing, and very scary. And I mean that in a good way! All in all, I'm really enjoying this story. The plot is unusual, but there really is so much potential for a horror story like this post-Ring War in Minas Tirith, where there are so many shadows of the past still lingering in stone walls. And you've done an excellent job in spinning a gripping tale with interweaving threads (that's still easy to follow!), trying up historical facts with refreshing creativity. This is very much a story I've always wished I could write (and read, in fanfiction), so I'm going to savour the remaining chapters! Even though the language gets slightly colloquial and jarring on occasion, the characterisations of our main players are still spot-on. (I also want to say, I adore the way you slowly brought Lothiriel into the story!) I'm probably repeating myself here, but, well, this is such a great story, and I'm pretty damn glad I found it (searching for Faramir fics on this archive, and the title/summary caught my eye :)). Good stuff!! :D!

I just love that librarian! And you realise you have just committed yourself to writing a series? I am looking forward to finding out just what the librarian has in mind for the next adventure! Author Reply: The Librarian's a characer, isn't he? :) Yes, I left it open-ended so I can write another one when I think of it. I think it would be fun to have a series of Middle Earth ghost stories, but I'm finally getting down and dirty with finishing my BA, so it may have to wait a while. I'm glad you like it! ~El

Wow I found your story by chance! It was a really good mystery! I loved it and I almost cried at the end, Now Im gonna check out your other stories! Author Reply: Thank you! I hope the others don't disappoint, they were written a long time ago and aren't quite on the same level as "Masquerade". Enjoy! ~El

Oh, that's a lovely epilogue! How wonderful that the children are taking part in the Masquerade now! And I loved Eowyn's musings on future Adventure--and the mysterious Librarian... Looks like you are all set up for a *new* story! Author Reply: I had to leave it open-ended like that; I just couldn't resist. But I think I'm going to take a break from mysteries for awhile, because as fun as it was to write this story, keeping everything straight was exhausting! :)
