| Hi Gwynnyd, I'm treating myself (and trying to jumpstart my own muses) by re-reading some short stories that were nominated at this year's MEFAs. It's definitely not the first time I've read this piece, but it never gets old. I found myself smiling right along with Aragorn and Faramir - both of them were just *so* in character for how I see their relationship at this stage. You've made them both very realistic, and the governance talk itself really showed that you understand how these things actually worked. One niggling thing - "if I lived anywhere for more than year or two" - should there perhaps be an "a" before "year"? Besides that, though, this piece was great, a real joy. Thanks for the smile. | what a wonderful story. Faramir working late into the night, to be interupted by king bringing a late night snack, and friendship. Aragorn? Elessar? Estel? Strider? Surely there is one of my names you could bear to speak. I love the humor in this story, and that Aragorn wants Faramir to be a partner in rebuilding. Author Reply: Thank you! Aragorn was so wistful to Frodo when they met that he wanted to be liked for himself, that I thought he might make the first overture to Faramir. I'm glad you enjoyed the humor. | |

| This is nice! And I like your writing style, crisp and economical. My only quibble is that the dear King seems a bit too chatty then I'd expect. But hey, that's just me and it is a late hour, and he is the Telcontar. =) ~W Author Reply: Aragorn is offering Faramir the opportunity to move from formal acquaintance to friend. Hmm, I always say Aragorn as a man who could be very charming when he choose to be. | A lovely story detailing the start of what surely became a great friendship! I love the detail of Faramir's work, his determination to prepare everything properly for his new King. And Aragorn's surprising Faramir at work is wonderfully written... Author Reply: Thank you. It was fun to write.
