| Ahh, that's the one dissapointment I had on my cruise to Alaska this past September. Every night was a cloudy one where we were sailing, so I was unable to catch a glimpse of the aurora borealis, aka the Northern Lights. I'm glad to be able to witness it here with my favorite hobbits, however :D ~Elemmírë~ Author Reply: Oooh, an Alaskan cruise, how exciting! Maybe someday you will go back and see the Northern Lights. | I too will not forget my sight of the Northern Lights. They were like shimmering transluscent curtains of palest green, blue, and violet. We could even *hear* them crackle in the stillness of the wilderness night sky. Amazing. Definitely worth waking up young hobbits for! Author Reply: What a lovely sight! | I've only seen the Northern Lights maybe twice in my life, and both times it was awe-inspiring indeed. Lovely that Bilbo and Frodo are doing their best to make certain that Merry and Pippin get to see them, too. Author Reply: Thanks, Larner! I've never seen the Northern Lights in person but it is something I hope to do someday. I love writing about young hobbits learning from older ones, and I thought this was the perfect opportunity.
