Wow. This is exceptional. Such a wonderfully detailed awakening, and your choice of words made every new sensation not only very real but beautiful I loved the stars appearing like poppies blooming, the subtle sounds, her sensation of beginning to breathe again, her first drink, the trees looming above...the whole thing was amazing. Masterfully done, Bodkin! ~TF Author Reply: Thank you very much! I became involved in the tragedy of man/elf relationships - and could not bear to leave Mithrellas and Imrazor divided, so found myself anxious to indulge in a moment of reunion beyond the end of days. I'm glad you found it to be effective.

Having finally shoo'ed the lovely relatives from my house and dispensed with my holiday responsibilities, I finally had some time to catch up on the stories that I missed over the weekend and this was a delight to find. I suspected you would not be able to leave Unexpected Meeting lie! And I'm so happy you didn't. Once again your descriptions are so rich. And the subject matter is so moving. I also think it would be the fate of Men and Elves and Dwarves to be joined again when Arda is ended (or I hope it would be, for Elrond and Elros' sake--somehow they are the ones I feel sorriest for). I loved seeing that depicted here. Great job. Author Reply: Thank you. You can only go for this much description when it's this short -otherwise you would end up feeling nauseous, like eating far too much fudge, but reawakening must be a very intense experience. And I just wanted them to be reunited (without having to develop any form of plot). And they must all be reunited at the end of Arda (I hope) Elrond and Elros / Arwen / Estel - and so many of the heirs of Elros who grew under his care. Thingol and Melian / Luthien. Legolas / Aragorn / Gimli and the rest of the fellowship - too many divisions not to have them reunited. No, I couldn't resist doing this. I just like happy endings. (Which is why I want Aradunnon and Amoneth to have one - after she's had some common sense and self discipline beaten into her head and his sense of responsibility has broadened beyond his troop commander role.)

Oh, I am so glad you didn't leave them apart. The descriptions of Mithrellas waking up were so vivid...reawakening to life would be an intense experience, I expect! :-) Such a tender moment between the two, and a wonderful ending to their story. (Can you imagine Elrond being reunited with all those he had lost...I'm not sure he'd be able to stand the strain of it, for though he's known happiness in his long life, he's also lost more than any man or elf ever deserved to, bless him! Hmmm, although you did show him happy with Celebrian in Valinor...still, so many he wouldn't see until Arda ended. *sigh*) Lovely story...I'm glad you are a sucker for happy endings, 'cos we get to partake of them, too! :-) linda Author Reply: Elrond has so many reunions - I don't think he'd know which way to turn! Arwen, Estel and Elros are the most obvious, but there's Luthien and Beren and I'm not sure about others like Elwing and Earendil - they didn't return to the mortal lands, but were they too committed to piloting Vingilot to be around in Valinor? Elrond deserves enormous happiness and every reunion he could hope for, in my mind. I'm glad you liked seeing Mithrellas wake to find Imrazor. And I found it interesting that beyond the circles of the world it would be the elves who were the Aftercomers and the Secondborn who were the experienced leaders of endless experience.

Very gentle story. Author Reply: Thank you. I couldn't bear to leave Mithrellas and Imrazor divided eternally. Actually there are a whole host of other people I would like to reunite as well, but that could become mushy!

That was beautiful! I love the awakening of the senses and the wonderful reward that awaited her. How truely romantic and wonderful! I'm so glad they are back together again! Well done. Author Reply: I just didn't want Mithrellas left in Valinor for ever, divided from her family by her immortality. They are together now - although the time that has passed is probably very very long. But I don't think time matters beyond the circles of the world. Thank you for reading.

Oh yes. That is exactly what I want to believe happened when Arda ended. And not only for these two, but for Arwen and her family too. You really do lovely images, Bodkin. I am jealous. Author Reply: And Melian/Thingol and Luthien. And Elrond and Elros. It would be interesting, too, to have the immortal elves being the follower here - the mortals passed here long since and have the experience one associates with elves, but the elves are the aftercomers, taking the hand of the experienced and being led forward to a new life. You - jealous? Laughable. I wish I could write your stories!

Ah, I should have realised. The name sounded familiar, teasing at my memory, but it's late, past my bedtime, and my brain is not at its best. Now I recall the other story of yours that I keep trying to read and keep getting interrupted! You're right... I hate eternal separations as well. I like your solution. (But then you already know I'm a sucker for a happy ending.) Author Reply: Early morning here. And I'm putting off doing the paperwork I put off yesterday and have to do today. I think the eternal separations sounded better written as the legends and fairytales, but, as soon as you start to think about what they entail, they are actually cruel. Get some sleep. Then you can get on with explaining the significance of the mithril flask!

So beautiful and so well done. I loved the descriptions: (Water, it was water – but it felt like liquid light on her tongue; light bathing forests of green and reflected in waterfalls of melted snow dropping from virgin peaks. Light that cast away darkness and filled empty space.) I could list them all, but instead of copying the entire story, I will simply say that this is remarkable. Author Reply: Goodness, thank you. It seemed that returning to the consciousness of life would be a remarkably intense experience. Painfully so, I would think. But they're back together!

Fascinating. Many have speculated what would happen to the Elves in the End. You have made it sound plausible. I am wistful, for I don't recognise whom you're portraying. My knowledge of Elves is sketchy, at best. I'm only able to catch hints of a love long-ago severed, and finally restored. Author Reply: It's Imrazor and Mithrellas - from An Unexpected Meeting, which left her gone off to the West, knowing that she and Imrazor, the founders of the line of Dol Amroth would never be reunited while the circles of the world endured. So I've just skipped however many ages that would be! (I want Elrond to get Arwen and Estel back too - and to be reunited with Elros. Although I'm not sure Elrond would be able to deal with happy ever after.) (Oh - and Melian and Thingol to be reunited with Luthien.) I don't like eternal divisions.
