It's a Wonderful Life  by SlightlyTookish 4 Review(s)

Oh, this was lovely. I just loved the images of all the rest of the Fellowship if the Ring had been bestowed upon them. I have often thought that Middle-earth had been blessed that Frodo was there to bear his burden, and the picture of poor Merry and Pippin and Sam stooped under the weight of the Ring, 'their eyes cold and faces wiped clean of laughter' was just heart-lurching! But wonderful. Great job! :)

Author Reply: I think that part of Frodo's burden was knowing that he had to destroy this Ring not just to save the world, but so his friends would not have to suffer as he is. I'm so happy that you enjoyed this story - it's certainly different from other stories I've written, and I worried about posting it! I wasn't sure how people will react. So thank you for reading and commenting! :)

O.O Wow..I think I needed that. It's always been a rather sore spot for me (being a major FrodoLass) that so much bad things had to happen to my fav hobbit. But, this helped me see that he was the only one who could've done it. Also, my compliments on the title. Quite clever! *winks*

Author Reply: Thank you Hobbit Lass! I'm so glad you enjoyed this story - it was a strange one for me to write, and I wasn't sure if the concept would work. So it makes me very happy to know that it did! And as for the title, I wrote this in early December when I was overflowing with holiday spirit - that is my only explanation :D

I really liked this. Your descriptions of the alternatives are well done, and certainly no more appealing (Bilbo, Sam, Merry, Pippin), or are even less appealing (Aragorn, Legolas, Gimli, Boromir) than what really happened.
Very well done.
