At the End of His Rope  by Lindelea 3 Review(s)

As I continued to read this delightful tale, I came to the part where Sam requested from Strider bottles with tight stoppers. Will he fill them with the magical Ent water from Fanghorn? That might be just the ticket to heal Pippin. Guess I'll have to continue reading to find out.

Author Reply: Well, thank you!

Methinks that yon Tari is a very astute reader.

Bless the old Ent and the gardener, and the luck that allowed one bottle to remain.

You know, it's funny with our different takes on the Ent-draughts, that we come up with similar ideas about them in many ways. My idea is that the effects of the original Ent-draughts were permanent, and left the two hobbits with a permanent boost to their own natural healing processes and immune systems. You have them also with a permanent but different effect, accounted for by this draught being specially concocted. But with both of us, they are sort of miracle cures.
Which of course is why the other two bottles had to be broken. Like miruvor, or the Elven draught used in "All That Glisters", the cure has to be rare and unreproduceable, or people would just be cured of everything, and the Ents would have no peace.
Poor Sam, though. He's going to be so worried.
