Yule Fictions Past and Present  by Grey Wonderer 6 Review(s)

I never heard of this tradition and I share Pippin’s sentiments of putting a flame into a flammable sack! That’s just not very practical at all. Of course, neither is trying to light the candle without first weighing down the sacks! LOL! But Pippin has never been particularly practical. It looks like neither of the lads will be trusted with the Yule lights again.

Ah, I love this, GW! Nah, doesn't have the stones for it, does he? HEHEHEHEHE!

Author Reply: Glad you liked it! I just had to use that line in it. Sometimes I get in a rather wicked mood. hehehe

lol, that was great! Poor Pippin, thinking he had ruined Yule. It was quite amusing though and I laughed right along with Merry as the story finally came out. My grandparents always do those lumenaries (sp?). They live in a coldesac and we always place them around the entire block. It sure is pretty! Thanks for the laugh!

Author Reply: Those are great decorations when they are set up correctly. I'll just bet that the decorations at your grandparent's home are beautiful. Perhaps your grandparents could teach Merry and Pippin how to decorate? LOL Thanks so much for reviewing and have a very merry holiday!

Pippin groaned. “I suppose that I might have looked a wee bit funny.”

ROTFL!!! Great story, G.W.!

So, they take sacks and put lit candles into them? I'm familiar with lanterns made out of coloured parchment paper. They burn very easily, too ;-) But they look grand!

What made me laugh most, was the fact that Pippin didn't put anything into the sacks to stabilize them! I would have liked to be one of the old gaffers! What a picture!

Thank you, G.W.!

Author Reply: It would have been funny to stand back and watch, wouldn't it? I can just see Pippin trying to keep all of the bags from being blown away by the wind. They are beautiful decorations but I don't have the nerve to set them up. I'd do what Merry did and more! LOL

ROFLOL! Great story. I must agree - Merry won that "contest." Good thing I wasn't drinking or eating while reading. Thanks for the laugh.

Author Reply: Glad you got a laugh out of this one. Yes, I think Merry was the winner on this one. Pippin made a good effort but I'm thinking that neither of them need to be lighting these things! Too bad there are no electric lights. hehehe

Oh. LOL! I've never used these lanterns although I've seen them so i would have probably been as bad as Pippin. I wouldn't have thought to put sand/stones in either!

Author Reply: My neighbors use these things at Halloween and I have always loved them but I know I would set something on fire with them if I tried them. LOL Pippin and Merry probably would be amused by my efforts if I ever got the nerve to try!
