Yule Fictions Past and Present  by Grey Wonderer 10 Review(s)

*snerk* That Pippin! First teasing Merry about the hazards of wearing footwear (and Daffy Duck! LOL!) and then he goes and gets addicted to them. His letter to Éowyn was hilarious. He has no shame does he? But Merry’s letter looks to be more interesting. You have to write a follow-up to this!

Author Reply: I could just see Merry having the nerve to wear the slippers and not caring what others might say. I decided to let Pippin be the one worrying about his image for a change. I actually used a canon fact in Pippin's sneaky letter to Eowyn! Per the Professor, Pippin's feet were smaller! Hah! I wrote canon!
A follow-up just might be an idea. That letter to Pippin's sisters does leave things rather open, doesn't it? Personally, I think someone should gift Sam with one of those hairless cats! Can you imagine the Gaffer's reaction to that?

Poor Pippin! He didn't tell on Merry to folks who would tease him unmercifully.

A very cute story :-)

Author Reply: Ah, but when Merry tells then Pippin will tell and so Merry is actually risking his own reputation by writing the letter. The question is, will he send it or will he just pretend to do so? LOL

It's not Christmas without a nice Hobbity story! I enjoyed yours very much, as usual. Happy Holidays!

Author Reply: Happy Holidays to you too. I just posted another one with Errol in it. He insisted. LOL

Scandalous!

(er, I mean, very funny)

“Why don’t you ever recall anything about me that isn’t embarrassing?”
Poor lad!

Of course, everyone knows that there are those who live in the wilds of Buckland who wear boots. It's part of the charm oddness. It's certainly a mercy that they took themselves off to Buckland in the first place, and left the mainland of the Shire to more civilised folk.

*g*

Will sliders become all the fashion, do you think?

Author Reply: It is scandalous isn't it? I can see Merry at his desk at Master of Buckland and no one knows that behind the desk, the Master is wearing slippers!

I do think Pip suffers from being the youngest. He doesn't always recall the embarrassing things that happened to Merry and Frodo. I think that may be their only hope in fact!

Yes, those Marish folk and their footwear. Scary.

If Sliders, er, slippers catch on then someone very enterprising hobbit is going to have to open a shoe shop!

Happy Holidays!

Author Reply: The whole event was scandalous, wasn't it? If the sliders, er, slippers catch on then some enterprising young hobbit is going to have to open a shoe shop! Think of the money in such a new and thriving business!

LOL

Happy Holidays! See you in 2008!

OMG! GW, you are *so* evol! Turning those poor hobbits into--into--into *looks around shiftily*whispers* "slipper-wearers"! *gasp* Why--what if future generations of hobbits ever discovered that their Master and their Thain ever did anything so--so--disgraceful! Why, slippers! That's worse than--*whispers again* Adventures! And they barely lived that down!

Why, poor Miss Dora would be spinning in her grave!!

*snicker*grin*smirk*

Author Reply: See, I blame the entire thing on Eowyn. She's the one that infiltrated the Shire with footwear. I think she meant to do it so she could open a shoe store there and make tons of money selling slippers! Or, maybe it was me...

I do love shoes.

I don't think we should tell Miss Dora about any of this!

Happy Holidays!

*LOL* This story is absolutly hilarious! Every bit of it!
AND now there are some more stories that I would really like to read.
Like the story when wee Pippin wanted that shoe....and a story about those situations after the Quest, where Pippin wanted to seem proper, which amused Merry and Frodo ...and how the story continues when Pip wakes up and what his sisters say. *G* What? You put all of those story hints inside there. Isn´t that there natural, that one might want to read those stories? *G*

Have a Merry Christmas! :)

Author Reply: You always find plot bunnies! Always! Very sneaky. I did mention that shoe once in another fiction of mine. Pippin mentions it to Otho in "Hide and Seek with Otho" in my Bagggins' series of stories. Pippin tells Otho, ("The big folk wear shoes and so it would be funny for a hobbit to look like an old shoe, wouldn't it? I saw one once. The nice hobbit that runs the junk shop had it. He said that there were supposed to be two of them but he only had the one. I wanted to buy it but Merry said that it was smelly and that I couldn’t have it.”") For some reason I mention this now and again but I haven't yet written it. I need to take Pip back to the junk shop.

Happy Holidays and thank you for reading!

“She was probably using up her bits and pieces,” Pippin said chewing his biscuit.

“Using up her what?” Merry asked.

ROTFL!!! Great story, G.W.! Will Pippin ever learn to think before he speaks?

But Merry got his revenge in the end! I wonder what his sisters' reactions will be!

Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you and your family :)

Author Reply: I don't think Pippin will EVER learn to think before he speaks. LOL

So glad you enjoyed this and I hope you have a very happy holiday!

“Why don’t you ever recall anything about me that isn’t embarrassing?” Pippin winced.

“It isn’t my fault,” Merry said. “You were an embarrassing little child.

Heee, this is a fun story. I suspect that Eowyn will be supplying certain Shire inhabitants (and their future children) with lovely slippers for many years to come.

Author Reply: Eowyn may just make some money on this if she plays her cards right. This could be a trend. No, wait, these are hobbits! LOL

Happy Holidays!

Hahahahaha! Merry, you are a brat! *giggle* This is a great Yule fiction. Yep, a keeper. It didn't take Pippin long to find out the merits of 'warm' slippers. :)

Author Reply: you gotta love slippers! It may not be proper hobbit attire but Merry is something of a trend setter. Maybe he can convince others. He convinced Pippin. LOL Happy holidays to you and thank you for reading!
