It looks like Eowyn is becoming comfortable with gardening and healer's work; which is a very nice setup to her later pledge to make it a vocation. Very credibly told! Now I want more Faramir! Author Reply: Oh no, I've quite forgotten about him; but then, he's not so central to to plot as to deserve a mention every two chapters.... I lie. But I am also interested - and perhaps I should make that clearer in my synopsis - I wanted to try and see (since this piece is already AU enough to have it develop a little more out of canon) how Eowyn might have stayed in Gondor out of her own volition, with minimum (but still sufficient) encouragement from Faramir. Anywhoo, instead of saying what i want to say I should actually write it, but between finals and term papers it will be some time. Thanks for your review. I always appreciate it.

Faramir lounging in a tree- love it! I also like the description of his hands as musician's hands- I definitely see him capable of that in a culture where lore would have often been sung. Looking forward to future chapters. Author Reply: Strangely, when I thought of putting Faramir in a tree, I didn't think as much of "ranger" than - say - him having a secret garden of his own. basically the same thing, i guess - now he has ithilien. Oh yes, he's an 'artist', no doubts about it, but I can't exactly decide what kind of an instrument he should play... any suggestions? Thanks for the review, and sorry I took so long to reply. Finals, papers, words words words.

Faramir certainly knows how to make a dramatic entrance! Jumping down from a tree is mysterious and romantic, and very much a Ranger-thing. I liked you making him a baritone; I always thought Faramir would have a deep voice. How can Eowyn resist this guy, anyway? If it takes her too long a time to fall for him, just send Faramir my way! Good chapter. Author Reply: Yes, I did make her out to be quite enamored, and I suppose the tree thing was somewhat...juvenile? But I enjoyed it, if you can't tell. It was quite early in the morning (three i think) and i felt the need to finally post something. I hope that isn't going to be problematic later on. hmmm. I'm hoping to introduce a new cast soon, but that might take some work. Might. Thanks again for the review, it keeps me going.

A very promising first chapter! Loved the image of them holding onto each other against the wind. And the use of Old English, and Faramir's knowledge of it, is very nice. I've always thought that Faramir and Eowyn felt a strong emotional/physical attraction to each other in the HoH chapter, and that true love followed a bit more slowly, as they grew to know each other better. Author Reply: Thank you for leaving a review; it's always nice to know the ppl who stop by do read at least a bit of what I wrote. These two have always tagged along in my brain for about a year now, and I could barely think of anything else lotr-wise. Starting something is a great trouble, there's always the idea that you might get stuck on, say, the third chapter (that's the one for me) and then totally discard the idea. I hope this'll be different. Thanks again! Author Reply: Thank you for leaving a review; it's always nice to know the ppl who stop by do read at least a bit of what I wrote.
