Hi! I just have to tell you how much I love this story... it was so sweet, and well written! :) Especially since I'm a hobbit fan myself (Merry & Pippin in particular), and I have a special love for sweet stories about Merry's and Pippin's respective marriages. :) You do a great job here in showing Merry as a romantic husband who loves his wife dearly, and also that even though he is now a respectable Master of Buckland, he still knows how to have fun! :D Oh, and that part about the markings in the closet was just beautiful. It's like the former Masters of Buckland & their wives were giving coming Masters & wives their blessings... just so beautiful! - I also love the words Merry carved in the closet with his & Estella's initials... lovely. And I also have to admit that just like another reviewer here, I was in tears while I was reading this! I especially felt for poor Estella when she thought about her daughter who had died as a baby... :( but I loved the fact that she's already expecting another baby... could that be the "laddie" they're waiting for? ;) Author Reply: Thank you *SO* much! I was so suprised and delighted when I read this review! And I am very, very happy that you enjoyed reading this. It was incredibly fun to write, and I am so glad you enjoyed reading it as much as you did! Yes, I have always pictured Merry and Estella to have a beautiful, loving relationship, where each one of them compliments the other, each of them having just enough in common, and not in common to provide their marriage with such a wonderful love. And as well the fact that they were able to climb the stairs of devastation from the War by holding onto each other, has bound them together even more devotedly. And I too, have always pictured Merry as one to never forget to have a good time! What is propriety to fun and happiness? I am sorry about the tears ;) but thank you! Whenever I read that someone felt such emotion whne reading something of mine I am always touched, and very happy. Again, thank you for reading this and sending such a thoughtful, wonderful review. ^_^

That was lovely! I was all teary-eyed at the end, and not just 'cause I had a long day of teaching... :) The love Merry has for his wife and family (including Pip) was so clear, through his words and actions, and Estella just instinctively knowing what he needs and is feeling. And the idea of the carvings is PERFECT - especially Merry's choice of what to add. -Laura Author Reply: Thank you! Yes, I have *always* felt that even though Merry gets older and starts a family of his own, adoring his wife and children above all else, that Pippin would always be included in that very innermost circle of family... sort of like another really rather old child, or brother (depending on Pippin's mood at the time, lol!)And that both Estella and Merry's children would adore him just as much as Merry. And I have always felt too that Merry and Estella are a couple that can read each other, for they have such a strong bond of love. Thank you for reading this and reviewing ^_^ It was very kind of you. Oh, and I just want to say here that I especially enjoyed your story about Merry and the Eagle, (I forgot if I reviewed it or not) it was so vivid and lovley!

Lovely story! I liked the tradition of carving a message in the closet. It was like kids carving their names in trees only with more feeling. It also reminded me of old family Bibles with names inscribed inside. A charming custom. Author Reply: I always thought that as well. What a sweet thing to see a testament of love scribbled someplace or carved into a tree! Almost as if the love should last forever since the markings will never be erased, even though they may fade, they will still always be. Thank you for reading and reviewing, I am always, always, happy to hear from you and read your comments! I am very grateful for your dedicated reviewing... I ought to dedicate something to you in change to express my thanks!
