very well done!
it's just the kind of fun they could have used after such dark times
i hope you will write more short stories like this one
oh yes, and will you same some cake for me,please?

Author Reply: Thanks so much! I agree, they all did need some fun after what they had gone through. And what better than a birthday and cake and friendship? *cuts a piece of cake for you* :)

How very sweet:

'Gentle teasing and heartfelt wishes were exchanged, and each person in the room could not help but think that, yes, it had all been worth it, if only for moments like this one.' I always think that that thought must past through all their minds whenever they are experiencing a joyful moment in their lives sometime after the Quest. Mixes the sad with the happy, it does, but at least it keeps them thankful and from taking things for granted that they could have before.

Also, '“I shall take my slice from the second layer,” ' LoL that Legolas, finicky, indeed! (Although I must admit, the saliva did turn me off quite a bit, too)

'There were more questions found in the young hobbit’s eyes than there was time to answer them. ' Ever aware, even when he was young.

Very good job!

Author Reply: Thank you, Saoirse! I love when people point out which parts they enjoyed. I agree with you - the Quest definitely changed them all, and I'm sure it made them especially grateful for the good in life. As for Gimli, well he was just trying to help Pippin :)

I'm so glad you liked this. Thanks for reading and commenting!

A very different and intriquing wee story. I really liked it. Well done :)

Author Reply: I'm so happy that you enjoyed this! It's a little different from my normal style of writing, I think, and I really hoped it would work. Thank you for reading and commenting! :)

How nice, Gandalf really does have a soft spot for his "fool of a Took". Should I ask if he though of doing that to the candles himself or did Frodo help in that sugestion? And it seems Gimli found a great way to get himself the top part of the cake. The rest of us will split the bottom layers, if you please. ;-)

Author Reply: Yes, Gandalf certainly does think a lot of Pippin. I think he came up with that idea all on his own, knowing how awestruck Pippin was at Bilbo's party. Frodo's just pretty smart, so he figured it out :)

Thanks for reading and commenting! Oh, and *gives Gimli the entire top part of the cake* *gives you a piece from the second layer* :)

How absolutely adorable! I love Gandalf and Pippin moments, I always find their relationship very unique and love when I can read stories that explore it. The idea that Pippin had seen Gandalf put out the candles on Bilbo's cake was great, then that he would have those candles on Pippin's cake was very sweet. Thank you!

I think I would want a piece of cake from the second layer as well ;)

Author Reply: Thanks, Hai! I also love seeing Gandalf and Pippin interact; their friendship is one of my favorites in all of LOTR. I'm so glad you enjoyed this, and before I forget...*cuts you a piece of cake from the second layer. Hmm...seems we're running out*
:)

Now, I just loved that! A little secret between Gandalf and Pippin and a lovley gathering of the Fellowship. I do agree with Legolas about wanting a slice from the bottom, though. LOL

Author Reply: *cuts you a slice from the second layer*

Thank you, Grey Wonderer! I just love Gandalf-and-Pippin moments, and I'm really glad you enjoyed this one :)
