Eowyn is brave because pies are hard and I can't imagine doing one in an over over a fire!

LoL! This was absolutely delightful! I just loved it, especially these parts:

'Faramir and Legolas both eye my creation with uncertain expressions; I suppose they fancy that something queer might come crawling out.' What a very clear and humorous visual, lol! I can just see perfectly the faces both of them have on, skeptical, but trying not to seem offending, but also not about to jump up and disregard their hesistancy in order to make her feel better, for fear of... erhm... the creature that may be inside. lol!

'“Very good indeed! Eat up, you fools! Your wife can cook, Faramir, so enjoy her skills!” ' What a very Gimli thing to say! I can just hear his rumbling voice admonishing those two (they should be ashamed, indeed). I also thought it very sweet of him for offering to try the first slice. Good ole Gimli!

And also: '...I privately resolve to write Esmeralda Brandybuck and demand every recipe she knows. I do have a reputation to uphold now.' Well, Esmeralda will be pleased at least!

I felt sorry that Merry could not make it to her bridal ceremony, but it is lovely that they have found a way to correspond frequently, and that the hobbits are still a loved part of their friend's lives even though they are so far away. Great job!

Oh how wonderful. You should take a page from Dreamflower though and include a recipe. We'd all love to try one of Esmeralda's pies ourselves. ;-)

Such a wonderful range of things you've included: Faramir succumbing to learing to smoke, Gimli and Legolas both giving stern warnings to their folks to behave, Ithilien's ladies flirting. All these and more round the story out well. And best of all Gimli beating Faramir and Legolas to the first piece of pie.

Good for Eowyn! I'm not one to cook myself, but when I do, I'm always surprised when it comes out edible and good, lol. Trust to hobbits for having the best pie recipes in all of Middle Earth. :)

A story as sweet as Eowyn's pie - very well told and full of yummy atmosphere and detail.

Oh how I love this! I can just imagine Merry sending her recipes in his correspondence--such a perfectly hobbity thing to do! It's wonderful how even from a distance, the hobbits are still corrupting--er, excuse me--influencing, their friends!
Go, Eowyn! (And don't feel bad about keeping the source of your recipes secret; Estella does the same thing...)
