And so it ends..... *snif* Throughout the story I have seen you growing, adapting, changing or trying new things, but even more, finding something back. I am glad you did, you always had it in you, but realising it yourself is much better. There were a couple of times that I missed Valandur, for example when Hal and Kil fought, I noted his absence, and yeah, when Poppi said Tarkil grieves over him still, you got me sniffling. And Haldon's words to Poppi hows he had to tell her kids about this very brave uncle.. you could have picked me from the floor. I suspected something going on between Aniriel and Gethron, did I ever mention how much I like these two? I wonder what the names will be during the Essecilme (name choosing), since you touched upon Essecarmë (name giving), both are different elven naming traditions, so I hope in time, maybe this comes back in about ten years. If you want more information on this, let me know. Oh and I agree with Poppi, Glory(findel) is a better name for Glorfindel and Elladan's reaction was priceless. Ok, where was I. A peaceful ending to a turbulent story, both have grown so much, there is a true character development for your main characters. Masterfully done Leaward! I know, once your muse is ready for a new story, it will be a masterpiece again! Author Reply: Thanks, Rhaps! This story has definitely been a tough learning curve for me. And yes, Valandur was missing -- but there is a story in the works with him, actually two that you can look forward to. I'm glad you like Aniriel and Gethron as a couple -- I thought they were a good match. I hadn't thought about them having an Essecilme -- that's an interesting plot bunny to sic on me. I'm going to take my time and make sure my next stories are exactly how I want them so there may be a bit of a delay -- plus my muses have told me they're exhausted and want a vacation. Tarkil and Poppi are heading to Rivendell, and Haldon, well Haldon is making the rounds as usual. Hopefully he'll head back soon. Oh, and I'm getting acquainted with Tarkil's mum. She seems nice -- but she talks in fits and spurts. Hopefully you'll get to meet her soon. Thanks for following me along on this bumpy path, Rhaps, and for all your comments and suggestions and the times you've propped me up when I've flagged. I really couldn't have done it without you and all the other people who have helped me out with this story.

Oh, I am almost done catching up on this splendid story... but this part really stood out and made me cry... from laughter! “A dream … especially if Glorfindel would join me in that bath!” Aniriel sighed. Gethron raised an eyebrow and exchanged a disgusted look with Haldon. Aniriel straightened and pointed, her eyes wide. “Ladies – look! Elrohir and Elladan have just unlaced their tunics! Do you think they might … OH!” A collective sigh went up as two tunics fluttered to the ground. “There is a difference between an Elf and a Half Elf!” Poppi whispered in awe. This is just... oh dear perfect. I can so imagine these reactions, bathing an elf, half-elves unlacing their tunics. *grin* And this sentence from Tarkil to Haldon says so much: And I know you love each woman you are with. Now if you excuse me...

BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!!!! Congratulations Leaward!!! That was a lovely and wonderful ending and you did an excellent job of keeping me guessing despite my hunches. I am relieved that the babies get to keep the Elvish names. I loved watching Poppi blossom in her new inviroment. I feel that is where she belonged all along. I have so much anticpated each new chapter. Beethoven's7th took too much delight in telling me she knew what was coming but would not tell. She never gave a hint! So like all of the other readers I had to wait for each new post. The waiting was worth it. This has been one of my all time favorite fan fictions. I know you have work you are doing of the non- fan fiction sort, but I hope that you will have time to continue writing this as well. You really are a wondeful and talented writer. You obviously put much thought into this and left nothing be taken for granted that ought not be. Have faith in your talent as a story teller. You have earned it. Forever your fan, MysteriousWays Author Reply: Thank you! *bows and wipes brow with relief* Beethoven's 7th has done a wonderful job beta'ing for me and I'm glad to hear she never gave you a hint. (Did she delight in teasing you though? Mwahahaha!) Yes, I am working on an original fic story -- and I'm freaking out because my writers' guild is having a day next month where they bring in professional editors and agents and they will be critiquing works based upon the first page of the manuscript (It's called 'Would You Turn the Page?') They only allowed a certain number of authors to submit and for some bizarre reason I submitted the first page of my story for them to critique and got accepted. Yikes! I think I'll find out that the fanfic world is a lot more forgiving than 'real life.' In the meantime, I'm immersing myself in catching up on all the reading I've missed while working on my own story. I think I've written 70 reviews now for the MEFA's and hope to write more by the time the voting closes. So don't expect anything too quickly, but as you'll see from my replies to other reviews, I do have more works planned. Thanks again for all your support Mysterious Ways. You've been a trooper and a loyal reader and boosted my spirits immeasurably by leaving your reviews!

Leaward, just had to write and tell you how much I have enjoyed reading this story. It is a good time to leave our little family..and here's hoping we will catch up with them again in the future. I shall always be a Rohir girl...but the Rangers now have a place in my heart, thanks to you. Eokat. Author Reply: Hey, Eokat, I know you are a Rohir girl and it surprised me to see you reading my little story. *cough*epic*cough* I'm not sure if you noticed but Haldon's heading south, so perhaps in the future there may be a Rohir story being published in my name ;) If Haldon and the Rohir cooperate that is. Maybe he'll meet up with Halig and Rowen?? Thanks again for all your support, Eokat. These reviews are really what have kept me going.

What a lovely ending. Only Poppi could get away with teasing Elladan and Elrohir like that - and probably only then until they get their way about the names of the little twins. Although she might have been granted special privileges. (Glorfindel might not agree!) It will do Poppi good to spend time at Rivendell, not to mention getting the best obstetric care. (I wonder if Elrond ever pictured himself with that specialisation?) And she seems to have a very clear idea of the sort of person Tarkil is and the responsibilities he has undertaken. Clearer than his really - though I suppose her vision isn't clouded with guilt. I think it's just as well that Haldon understands clearly the state of play between Poppi and Tarkil, so that he is not trailing too many regrets as he heads south. And I do look forward to a possible future when he finds himself a true love. Meril and Galathor, huh? And Gethron and Aniriel? (Do Dunedain remarry?) Good to see the villagers of Celutoss coming to grovel - but the sheer existence of the grandparents from Mordor is enough to make Poppi want to live somewhere else. Nevertheless I'm glad she saw that the best future for them and their sons was among the Dunedain. Tarkil will be a good captain - if he can keep his temper. Perhaps E2 should pop round regularly to whip his feet out from under him. I'm sure they'll haunt the childhood of the little twins. Who will, I'm delighted to discover, have names that will reflect their relationship with their sponsors - although Poppi and Tarkil's teasing of the elves was very amusing. As was Glorfindel's insistence that their names must not be altered - although I wonder if he would feel the same way if P and T did decide to call them Radagast and Gandalf! I have loved this story so much! Don't let it be too long before you reveal some more secrets of the Dunedain, please. Well done - excellent work. Author Reply: Thanks, Bodkin, glad you thought the ending was lovely. I'd agonized quite a while on just how it should be ended. I think by the time Poppi has her next child, Elrond will have gone to the West so perhaps she'll find herself attended by either the twins or ... Celeborn? LOL, now there's a scene I'm dying to write. There are several Haldon stories being written right now, including the 'possible future' ;) Meril and Galathor, huh? And Gethron and Aniriel? (Do Dunedain remarry?) Yes, I would imagine Dunedain remarry -- especially back in the days when women could die in childbirth and the men died while on patrol. I imagine they had to. Meril will have to wait a while still I think before she can marry -- she's only 22 -- and I'm not sure if her parents want her to follow in Gilraen's footsteps of marrying young. But you never know. (Actually I've already written her future. But you'll have to wait to see it.) LOL about Glorfindel possibly not feeling the same way about nicknames if P&T decided to call them Radagast and Gandalf. Raddy and Gandy? That's got a ring to it too. Thanks for following along in this long ride, Bodkin. And thanks for your reviews over at the MEFA's too. That's even more scary!

What a lovely ending. It felt so peaceful and calm...especially after all the excitement. I was glad to see the villagers all make a move toward reconciliation. And the apology was very nice. Too bad Elennië and Dagnir are such sticks in the mud. One can only hope that with time, they'll see the error of their ways. But even if they don't, Poppi, hopefully, realizes now that they aren't the norm, but the exception. Poor Haldon. He bad wants to understand what Tarkil and Poppi have and even hoped, it seemed, that he had come close with Poppi back when they were in Bree. But her answers were all the right ones and her love for Tarkil was true from the beginning. I suspected Halboron might be...related. I'll say it again: Poor Haldon. Irwin Bender? I was scratching my head there for a minute and when Elrohir straightened it out, I burst out laughing. And Glory! I don't think the poor big twins have ever met anyone like Poppi before. She keeps them on their toes. You managed to work out Tarkil's problems with a very nice solution. Being captain--and having authority over the old goat, Ragnor--is just perfect. Too bad Haldon is going to be away for so long, but under the circumstances, it'll probably be better for him. To end with the naming ceremony was wonderful wrap-up. I love that Glorfindel added the little bit about 'no nicknames'! He wasn't going to let that go by without adding his two cents worth. It was actually very sweet because it had the ring of an affectionate personal joke between the Elven contingent and Poppi. I think they found her endearing. And I like the names they officially gave the babies. Very nice. I know you're glad to finally wrap this up, but it's been a fun ride. Now...I wonder what Haldon's going to be up to and what happens down the line for the little twins and their parents. You deserve a break, and I think you should take one for at least, oh...two days and then back to the keyboard! Good show, Leaward. Karen

Ohhh! Why'd it have to end?! I love this story, I believe I shall read it again! I love your ending, the part with the names, I could picture so clearly Elladan and Elrohir getting all outraged over the name choices! I cracked up! I can't wait for your next story, Which brings me to another thing. In your reply to someone, I can't remember who, you said something about giving your betas a rest. I was wondering if you want another one. If your good with what you got, I totally understand! Just a thought! I'm eagerly awaiting your next story! Galimeirl ;D Author Reply: Why'd it have to end? Because it was time! Oh my, this story has taken over my life in ways you wouldn't believe. I'm glad you liked the Peredhil getting outraged over the name choices -- I like it when I can combine some humour with serious moments. And I will contact you off-list about beta'ing, I'm always looking for more willing victims, I mean volunteers! I have several more stories that I've been fiddling with but nothing's ready yet. One is a multi-chaptered story that takes place 50 some years before this one, and another one is set fourteen years before. I'm also working on two shorts -- one of Sarn Ford, and another about the brooch Tom Bombadil picked up in the Barrows (a little plot bunny someone sicced on me here.) But it'll be a while probably before either of those gets put up, but I will definitely need someone to help look over them for me. Thanks for following through this epic, Galimeril. I'm so glad you loved it, it definitely was a labour of love.

Yes! I knew the little twins should be called Eluréd and Elurín! Thank you for this - the other, Bree names, would never have sounded right. But what do you mean, Elladan and Elrohir do not like to be called El?? I always call them that! (Yes, I know it's not really elvish. But it suits them.) I'd guessed that the love of Haldon's life was Poppi herself - it's sad that he will always see her with his brother and wonder what might have been; but I'm sure he will find another maiden to love in time. Great story, Leaward! Jay Author Reply: Thanks, Jay! Yup, I always liked those names too and it took some convincing but we finally got Poppi to agree. I definitely don't see a Dunedain Ranger being named Sam or Tom. As for Haldon ... Hmm, well, there are plans for a story or two about him in the wings, but it will be a while yet. ;) Thanks for reviewing, Jay, always a pleasure. Author Reply: Oops, looks like I've opened my mouth and changed feet again. ;) Let's change that to 'I definitely don't see a Dunedain Ranger being named ... um ... Billy or oh, shoot, no matter what I choose someone's going to email me, aren't they? No offence, RW! ;)
