Pitfalls of the Palantir  by Haleth 5 Review(s)
BodkinReviewed Chapter: 25 on 3/16/2006
If Haleth thinks Surprisingly, Inglor was very well versed in the etiquette of dwarves and he must have studied it in Rivendell - does that mean she was already well versed in the etiquett of dwarves and didn't need to study it in Rivendell? Mysteriouser and mysteriouser.

Frar is remarkably open - and I love Inglor's response to his wish not to discuss why the Palantir was distracting the lads. And I wonder why he wishes to avoid Eryn Lasgalen and the two he refers to as Thranduil and Celeborn.

Haleth is horrified at discovering herself being overcome with speeches of elven delicacy. While Inglor is amused. These two just kill me. (I hope Meandering through Mandos is coming on for my further entertainment.)

Author Reply: Thank-you, Bodkin

Regarding Haleth and the dwarves; yes.

Frar knows trouble when he sees it. He's sending them to his boss to avoid any unfortunate misunderstandings. He'd likely send messengers to Thorin II, warning him to expect them.

Thanks again.

Hm.There is a LOT more to Inglor than meets the eye... what is going on here? Is he just playing the innocent with Haleth? I havwe thought for a little while that he is waiting for HER to catch up in a way...

Author Reply: Thank-you, Ziggy

There is a lot more to Inglor than meets the eye. Then again, there would almost have to be, wouldn't there?

Haleth doesn't really know that much about him. She makes all kinds of assumptions based on the way he behaves, and you know what they say about assuming thing.

Thanks again!

I just read the entire story so far and I love it... These are some interesting characters you have here. I would love to read about Haleth's other stays at Rivendell (Lay of the silver ware?? sounds like an iterresting story) And what of being fished out of the lake?
I didn't know the palantiri could be used for entertainment but it seems to be quite entertaning..... do we have to guess at what you could see if you want to... or does my imagination go whre it should'nt ?? ;)

Author Reply: Thank-you, Fire

Lay of the Silver Ware? You've just given me an idea! Thank-you!

From what I've read of them, the palatiri could be used for a history lesson rather than entertainment but dwarves can be very resourceful.

I agree with Inglor, Haleth begins to sound like an Elf... "How could nothing be distracting?" Haleth wondered " Now, that sounded very Inglorish, didn't it? :-)

The Book of Calming Thoughts seems like a very practical reading, and something she might have carried along, for advanced practice... Yet Inglor was lucky that she had time enough in Rivendel to go through it...

And now we find out that he's so well-versed in Dwarvish etiquette... I'm adding clues in my list of clues...

Author Reply: Nothing is distracting. That really does sound like Inglor. I never thought of that until you pointed it out.

Inglor should probably send an expensive thank-you present to the author or the Book of Calming Thoughts. It's likely to save him from a few tongue lashings.

Regarding Inglor's identity, please let me know how your clues add up.

Thanks again.

My favorite story!

Just a couple of suggestions:

Haleth faired a little better.
I believe the spelling is "fared", from the verb that brought you
"farewell---fare-thee-well"

"We'll found out soon enough"
I think it should be, "We'll find out soon enough" as
the contraction in full would be, "We will find out soon enough"

Thank you for sharing your talent!

Once again, thank-you for pointing out the errors. I should have caught them.

This is going to sound really presumptuous, but do you ever beta read? (Please?)
