Your words and images are gifts to the reader. This was all good but I have my favorites, of course: "Now my lord lingers in a dread twilight of the soul and the minutes pass like ashes drifting." "...(to) feel the unseen blood upon them." "Their thoughts must whisper as one, I guess." I just love to see words used so deftly, sometimes with the aristry shown openly and other times hidden in simplicity. I really enjoyed Sam's plain and pure philosophy illustrated in terms of gardening. You also conjured one of my most favorite images from the trilogy: "Bright in memory stands forever a tall figure against the stars, singing into the night. Singing to ease the sleep of mortal souls." So nice. ~TF

these were absolutely wonderful. I am so grateful that, while they were written for others' birthdays, you chose to share them with all of us. Gems, all of them, but in particular... I liked 'garden of samwise' the best. It had a perfect sense of sam's voice and his wisdom and eternal hope. 'boys to men' was a nice tender moment for father and son. 'good stone' - lovely. the image of the garland on the statue was a perfect blend of plant and rock, soft and hard - elf and dwarf. I enjoyed the heartfelt emotion in 'whole of the tale' and the poignant, peaceful picture of the fellowship together in 'circle of friendship.' Loved 'measure of an elf.' It was very characteristic of Aragorn for him to most treasure that moment. And what a great way to describe it by contrasting it with Legolas's 'greater' moments. Dragon wisdom was a nice, rare moment of tenderness b/w denethor & faramir. Loved all of them, but can't write about them all right now! Thank you for this gift of words.

Love these little gems! Favorites are GOOD STONE (wonderful Legolas/Gimli interaction and attention paid to the melding of stone and nature for the benefit of Minas Tirith), Beregond and Bergil's protracted waiting for Faramir's awakening with its triumphant, hopeful ending, and the Denethor & young Faramir story. I also liked Halbarad's vision of beauty and hope beyond death...
