As history (both real and fictional) is mostly written by the victors, where the defeated are often portrayed as villains and substandard, it can difficult to sympathize with the losing party. Even more so in this fictional setting, where the Uruk-hai are seen as monsters and/or perversions of nature. I believe it takes great skill and openness of spirit to be able to empathize the Uruk-hai and to convey that empathy. I actually felt sympathy for them, which was quite a pleasent surprise. This story is truly a piece of skillful writing. It is very generous of you to share it so freely. Thank you and happy writing! Author Reply: Thank you for the generous words. To tell the truth, at first I was a little afraid of the possible reactions, as the main "heroes" are more than a bit unusual. Now I'm strongly motivated to write the other two parts as well.

Any thoughts of expanding the story to tell us more of Lugdush and the cub? Interesting tale. I could grow to like the Uruk-hai. After a fashion. Author Reply: Thanks. Yes, there will be a sequel with the title "Hunter, Prey". Eventually. This is a trilogy, but I managed to write the middle part first. Typical. I'm glad you like it. :)
