“I know!” Gwindor exclaimed suddenly. “We should all be the lieutenants! That way both the oldest and the wisest will be the lieutenant." Such a civilised solution! So typically Sam to sneak off and look after the children rather than lord it at a feast. And was making sure he had Eomer's permission to canoodle with Eowyn the tiny point nagging at Faramir? I loved seeing Eowyn acting up to her First Lady of Rohan role, rather than being the hick from the sticks with no idea how to behave on formal occasions. Lovely story

“For once a company is formed, some part of it will remain forever. And if the company is formed of friendship, it can never be broken, even if no two members are in the same place ever again.” Now there's a definition of the fellowship, if ever I've heard one. *Nods approvingly* I can so easily see Sam doing just that during a great feast--ever the nurturer! And Faramir narrowly escaping Eomer was a wonderful begining. Thank you for a wonderfully touching story.
