This was just lovely.I enjoyed the way you portrayed the growing friendship between Aragorn and Faramir and Hobbit common sense.

Author Reply: How lovely, to find your comments today when I di not expect a new review for this story.

I enjoyed exploring the tentative beginnings of the relationship between Aragorn and Faramir, and I thought Aragorn would be keen to reassure his Steward, particularly as he knew Denethor and what he was like.

I love hobbit common sense! As my mother used to say, the trouble with common sense is that it isn't all that common! We can always rely on Sam to have it though. :-))

Aah, so well done. Was hoping the scrolls would come to that end, and was pleased when they did. Yes, I can imagine Denethor becoming that obsessed with the honor to his own dignity.

Author Reply: Thank you - glad you enjoyed seeing the scrolls going into the fire.
Yes, even with Mordor almost at the gates I imagine Denethor was still obsessed with his own dignity. He did rather lose the plot! :-))

Great story, of the new king and steward. Aragorn and Faramir will make a good new broom.
I could not imagine Aragorn, putting up with all those rules of protocol. Good place for them the fire.

Author Reply: No, I can't see Aragorn worrying about such petty rules. His people and dignitaries from other lands gave his respect because he deserved it, not because it was demanded. At least those scrolls provided some warmth on a chilly night!

A pleasant interlude between Aragorn and Faramir - I love King/Steward friendship stories; and appreciate this take on the beginning of their mutual understanding.

Author Reply: I always feel sorry for Faramir - he has had little fun in his life, apart from time spent with his brother, and has had too much responsibility and worry thrust upon him at a young age. Now he has the chance to enjoy life and have some fun, as well as being properly appreciated by his King.

I love your story! It's very entertaining and amusing! :P

Author Reply: We know that Aragorn has a sense of humour and I thought it might be nice to have an informal interlude between the King and his Steward, both feeling their way in their new roles. What a great team they will be, with their open, honest gentle hearts.

No wonder Pip was called the "Ernil i Pherrianath" if he didn't abase himself or anything!

<>< Saved from sin through Christ,
MJ

Author Reply: I have a feeling that there were several reasons for that.
1) Hobbits don't do require that sort of thing.
2) Pip is the son of the Thain so is probably used to a little deference.
3) He was taking his cue from Gandalf.

Either that or he simply refused to do anything so humiliating, in which case good for Pip! :-))

Wonderful! Such a delight to read. I love stories that feature a good relationship between Aragorn and Faramir. Now how about a fic about their fun with the hobbits? :)

Author Reply: Goodness me, I thought I'd written plenty of Aragorn/Faramir/drunken hobbits in my long story 'Reunion in Minas Tirith.' :-)) Still, there's always room for tipsy hobbits, so I shall see what I can do.

Loved it! Especially the part where Aragorn imitated Sam's accent.

Author Reply: I thought that Aragorn had travelled and spoke many languages, and would probably have little difficulty in imitating that lovely country accent of Sam's.

Glad you liked it. :-))

Author Reply: Thank you. Made a change from writing mostly hobbits. I'm waiting to see if any more such stories emerge.

What a great story, Baggins Babe! I believe it's the first of its kind that I've seen, and I really enjoyed it!

I've grown quite fond of Faramir here at Arda... people seem to 'get' him here. :) Thanks for the great story! :)

Author Reply: Poor Faramir - he goes through a lot. I also think Aragorn would be very impatient when faced with such rigid rules.
This particular plot bunny bit me repeatedly until I wrote it!
Thank you for your kind comments.
