An interesting take on why Hamson chose to become a ropemaker. I like the way you depict the sisters and brothers in this chapter. I hope that Dandelion will prove worthy of young Hamson. You mentioned the age difference: at 25, Hamson is about 16, which would be a good age to begin an apprenticeship, and a good age to become interested in lasses. At 24, Dandelion would be approximately 14 and a half--a good age to become interested in lads, yet definitely an age at which her father would think her too young for any real courting. Very good beginning. I look forward to seeing more of this. Author Reply: I'm glad you liked the family interactions. As for the ages, I was just sort of guessing. How are you figuring those out? Aha--now the choice to become a roper like Uncle Andy begins to make clear sense. Still think Boffin is a bit above himself. Author Reply: Yes, Boffin is pretty arrogant. Some people are just like that. Thanks for reading and commenting (again). <>< Saved from sin through Christ, mj

Ah, Ham in the throes of love. Hope she is worthy of him, although, of course, her father is a bit above himself. Author Reply: One must not judge a lass by her family! Thanks for reading and commenting. <>< Saved from sin through Christ, mj
