This was terrific! I took this one to work today (I'm catching up on libraries) and thought the whole idea of a wee creature from the Undying Lands awesome and extremely creative. You have a beautiful imagination! Pippinfan Author Reply: Thank you! I appreciate the compliment about my imagination! I can imagine that there are all sorts of creatures that we haven't heard of in Tolkien's universe.

I just have to admire your imagination :) A bumble-bird! Wonderful! And it's another proof, that Pippin is a wise hobbit in spite of his age and sometimes in spite of his behavior ;-) Author Reply: Thanks Andrea! Llinos came up with the exact name for the bumble-bird. Pippin is a perfectly intelligent young hobbit, and he has the sense of wonder that would allow him to be the one to work out what this creature might be : )

Sweet and endearing. It must have done to raise their spirits a bit. The Valar know what they're doing, after all.

A perfect interlude. Thank you so much. And each character reacted just the way I might have imagined!

I wanna see a bumble-bird. That was so sweet. I wonder if Gandalf ever explained it to them or if he allowed them each to keep their own ideas on the matter?
