Not Quite Any Other Day  by Pearl Took 7 Review(s)
VirtuellaReviewed Chapter: 1 on 11/4/2008
Oooh, this is an absolutely charming story! As usual, your prose is just spot on. The wedding of a sibling can be tough indeed - I remember my brother wasn't too happy on my wedding day, what with me moving to another country and all that. Did you know, BTW, that the greatest witch in all of Discworld is one Esmerelda "Esme" Weatherwax?

Author Reply: Thank you so much, Virtuella :-) The moving so far away would make the change harder to take.

I had no idea! See, she was right, it *is* a magical name :-)

Ah, this is very good. :)
I can't imagine my baby brother getting married. I imagine my feelings would match Lanti's.
:)

Author Reply: Thank you :) I haven't had to go through a sibling getting married, but my daughter's wedding is set for October 2007, so I'm getting a feel for it. Thank you for responding :)

Pearl! ANOTHER Gem! I just love it! How cute you had their courtship begin! What's that saying... Never trust a Brandybuck or a Took? LOL They are PERFECT for each other. Darling story! Looks like Esme gets the best of both worlds now, huh? :D

Author Reply: Thank you so much :) Yes, I really feel Brandybucks and Tooks are well suited to each other - so much Fallowhide hobbit in both families. Thank you for reading and responding :)

“You are leaving me behind and you know I hate being left behind.”
That sounds very familiar! Esme and her son seem to have a lot in common.

And Saradoc - I just like him in this story! He's the perfect husband for Esme.

Thank you :)

Author Reply: Hehehehe yes, I feel that's Merry's Tookishness showing through ;) I'm so glad you liked Saradoc :) Thank you so much for reading and responding :)

Absolutely marvelous scene! Just love the image of him wading the river--"...never said I had to use the rocks..." Lovely, lovely logic!

Author Reply: Thank you :) As any good Brandybuck, he wasn't afraid of wading - or swimming for that matter - but I think she was right in he wouldn't have tried the balancing act of using the boulders. Thank you so much :)

Saradoc is one bold lad! Loved the relationship between "Paddy" and his sister. You always paint the most lovely Shire moments. :-) Thank you for sharing your lovely imagination.

LOL, what a wager!

(how scandalous would it be?)

And Paladin's teasing, so gentle and yet true to life. (Teach her to burn Mum's recipes...)

Thanks!

Author Reply: You're welcome, and thank you for reading and responding :) :) Yes, my experience shows - I'm a younger sister and so is my daughter. I've seen and heard my share of teasing ;) How scandalous? I've the feeling with those two (especially Esme) very little at all. hehehe
