If I Had It All Again To Do  by Pearl Took 9 Review(s)
EverlightReviewed Chapter: 1 on 4/30/2014
Chilling. This story makes me ache inside. Sometimes it's hard to look back, wishing you could do it over again; to change what can never be changed. Beautiful, Pearl.

Author Reply: Again, Everlight, thank you so much. Yes, we all have things we wish we would have done differently and it's tough knowing we can't change the past.

Hugs,
Pearl

A lovely piece but oh, so sad. To hide one's own nature in order to blend in is an experience many people know but that still does not make it right. Let us celebrate our differences and learn from the best of each other. But I can still see this happening both here and in Middle Earth.

Author Reply: Thank you for reading and for the insightful response. Yes, "passing" is a sad thing that has happened in many ages and in many places, and most likely still is happening. I'm with you, the differences are part of the fun of our world I don't want people to lose their cultures. Thank you so much again :)

So sad. Hobbits couldn't just leave like the Elves. There would have been a long fading away as they were crowded out.

Author Reply: Yes, the Elves left basically as they always had been, the hobbits diminished. Though, in a way, it's kinda neat to think they are still among us, and perhaps in us :)

I've not heard from you, nor you from me, in ages it seems. I'm so sorry we lost touch. I hope all is well with you :)

Thank you so very much for reading and especially for responding :)

How horribly, horribly sad! (But well written!!)

Author Reply: Thank you. It is a sadness that has happened throughout the ages and happens still. I'm glad you read, enjoyed and responded. Thank you :)

This is so sad, I got barely through to the end. But very well done.

Author Reply: I'm glad you made it. Thank you so much for reading and for responding :)

I guess that would sort of explain what happened to Hobbits as a people: They didn't become extinct, they just sort of...blended in. But still, how horribly sad:o(

Author Reply: I feel that some, the shortest, would hide and dwindle as Tolkien says. But I've always thought some would marry in with the Men as not all of them would be really tall. Thank you so much for responding :)

Oh how horrible! It's just what could have happened. That's so poignant, and so very very scary...
Beautiful, but scary...

Author Reply: Thank you! I find the song to be the same way so I'm glad I caught it's spirit. Thank you for reading and responding :)

Extraordinarily sad, it is. To lose the ties of family....

Very well written.

Author Reply: Thank you so much for reading this and responding so nicely :)

Oh...Pearl. My heart is so sad and crying for this lad, his hobbit family, and the hobbits in general...and the Shire. So poignant, about how the "dominion of Men" came to be. A heritage lost...oh, my broken heart, this is so sad. :'( Wonderful as always, Pearl.
