Marvelous story. I love h/c and, of course, angst. Usually I gravitate to stories of Frodo but this was so well written and inspired I felt drawn to it. Good Job! tree Author Reply: Thank you for such nice words! :D I am glad you like it.

I do like Fermund. And that is a lovely stick they've managed to put together for Merry. But the ranger would do much better not to take up the evil weed. How to make yourself popular among the powers-that-be - rescue a hobbit or two. I think Fermund prizes Merry's friendship above the gifts of kings, though. Good story. Author Reply: Thank you! Yes I think he values the friendship more than the pipe too. :D I am glad you liked my story. Thanks for reviewing.

Very sweet ending in which Merry gets this wonderful walking stick from his friends. Fermund is a very cool OFC. =) i really liked this fic and can't wait to read more Merry h/c from you! =) Author Reply: Thank you. I am glad you like my Fermund. I have waited for a special occasion to give Merry as pecial gift and this was it. You want more Merry h/c from me? Well, most of my stories include that in one way or other. :D

Anso, this is a great conclusion for this tale!! I really love the way you showed Frodo's and Pippin's concern for Merry, and it was good to see it through the eyes of someone new. Fermund's observations were wonderful. And the ending was delightful. I loved the cane, and then Merry going to teach Fermund to smoke. By the time the hobbits head back to the Shire, there will be a whole new group of people who've learned to appreciate pipe-weed! An excellent tale, altogether! Author Reply: Thank you. I'm glad you like my hobbits and Rangers, lol. I have waited for an opportunity to write about a very special gift for Merry and this was it. He needed it I figured, in all possible meanings of it. :D

Yay, I love the happy ending, and Merry realizing how many friends (and what respect) he has earned just by being himself. A wonderful story. Author Reply: Thank you! I am so glad you liked it. Thank you for reviewing! :D

“Let`s see. I know Alasseo at least. It is the first elvish word that Frodo ever taught me.” “What does it mean?” Pippin asked. “It means “merry”,” Merry answered, smiling. Oh Anso, that was a beautiful ending! While reading about Merry's wish to get up as soon as possible, I wondered if he had a walking stick - and there it is: the best gift Fermund could give him! Thank you :) Author Reply: Thank you. I am so glad you liked it. I thought Merry needed a special gift and this was a very nice opportunity to give him one. :D

What a great ending to a perfect story Anso - I have really enjoyed this and it is going on my favourites list immediately. I had tears in my eyes with Merry. Realising just how much someone loves us can be pretty overwhelming! Author Reply: Oh, thank you! :D Yes it can be a bit much to realise how much we are loved, but sometimes it is important to see it. Thank you for reading and commenting! :D
