A New Beginning  by Linda Hoyland 3 Review(s)

"Aragorn was starting to get quite light headed from watching all this bobbing around."

That's my favorite line in the story. It shows Aragorn's essential honesty and desire for a certain simplicity in his relations with others rather than fripperies and ritual and obeisance. Unfortunately, as King, he's going to have to learn how to handle all of that, but he doesn't need or want it all the time, particularly from his friends.

Author Reply: I'm pleased that you thought I captured an essential facet of Aragorn's character in this line. The poor man will get enough bowing and scraping in public ,so he hardly needs it in private too.
Many thanks for your much appreciated review.

I think I remember reading this on FFN, but it's wonderful to read it now. Poor Faramir, looking at the bad memories and associations he has with these quarters, and now must give over. At least he has one well worthy to follow to assist him in washing those memories away! But to have the final panic hit him--poor lad!

Author Reply: I posted this at ff.net last May but decided to try to improve it for this site as i felt I could do better.I'm pleased you are enjoying it here. Many thanks for your much appreciated review.

It was very hard to imagine himself being crowned as King ,had Denethor lived. It was unlikely he would have handed over the rod so easily. He had Faramir to thank for his smooth accession to the throne.

Now that's a fascinating thought! And oh, how I wish the movie had included the scene of Faramir "surrendering his office" to the new king.

Author Reply: I very much missed that scene too.Thank you for your much appreciated review.
