| My favorite pairing and a nice AU with plenty of bif and blam and some nice character developement. Ah, replete sigh. Thank you I did enjoy this little outing - More? Rose Author Reply: I alos love Legolas and Gimli together. I tried to make the characters' animosity toward each other move toward friendship in a believable way, even though the story is only two chapters long. I'm glad you liked it. | I just read your story and I really liked it! I enjoyed reading a story that didn't have them get seriously injured to be good friends. I loved the end of the story too when they stopped before entering the woods and legolas put his hand on gimli's shoulder. It just gave me a great mental image of the start of a very unusual and deep friendship. I enjoy your work and I hope you write more soon! Author Reply: Thank you very much. I sometimes write angst, but I also think that humor and/or plain shared adventures can demonstrate a deep friendship as much as angst can. I'm glad you liked the ending. | This is a fine action/adventure tale. I think it could have done well with few more chapters, but I understand the limitations that you were under. And after all that's the mark of a good story: it leaves the reader wanting more. I'm glad that you didn't make Legolas TOO perfect. I'm as much a fan of Elf worship as anyone, but I don't like doing it at the expense of Gimli. I love that Dwarf, and I cringe when he's reduced to comic relief. Thanks for a good story. Author Reply: I agree that the story would have benefitted from more length, but I did the best I could under the limitations I was given. Elves have so many great attributes that it's very easy to want to make them perfect in every way. Gimli is a great character and while I do think he is terribly funny most times, he is far from a buffoon. I didn't want to make Legolas the hero at everything, having to constantly rescue Gimli, etc. That's why I had Gimli engage in a little heroics of his own. You are most welcome. | |

| This looks to be the start of a very interesting and entertaining story. I'm looking forward to seeing how you develop Legolas' and Gimli's relationship from hostility to friendship. It's a fascinating progress, I think, and I often wish that Tolkien had given us more of it. Thank goodness for fan fiction. Author Reply: I hope you won't be too disappointed when I tell you that there is only one chapter left. Due to the constraints of the Teitho Contest rules, I had to limit the length of the story, and to be honest, I don't have time to expand it. This is sort of a microcosm of what I think really happened between elf and dwarf. I love those two together, sooo different and yet such good friends. I also wish Tolkein had done more with it. Yeah, fanfiction! | |
