Legolass, This story is amazing. All of us fans appreciate all the hard work you put into it. I was literally gripping the edge of my seat! I hope to see more of your work in future other than what I have already read. I'm working on a story about how Legolas and Aragorn meet. Is there a way I could send a chapter or two to you and you can tell me what you think? I'm not sure I have as much 'knowledge' of Middle Earth as you seem to have. Just let me know! Great story! Edhel Maethor Author Reply: It's been ages since a review came my way at this SoA site, Edhel, so yours is MUCH appreciated, thank you. :-) It's always to know one's writing is enjoyed. Unfortunately, work has been very demanding and so I've been unable to write much more than the stories that I've already posted, though I hope to write something new at some point. :-( For the same reason, I wouldn't be of much help to anyone in terms of beta-ing a story, I'm afraid, but if you're okay with me taking a quick look at your two chapters, I'd be happy to. You can mail it to me at mazquendi@msn.com. Thanks again for your review, Edhel. Talk to you later!

Dear Legolass, we are having a very successful campaign here in Aswan. Although two weeks ago, it was cold enough to drink hot mulled wine on the terrace over the Nile at night, the weather is now beautiful and very warm. So far, we have been able to excavate two very large buildings, one soldiers barracks and the headquarters building, complete with strong room and sacellum. There was also a large pit with a depot of several complete ceramic vessels for storage, which was exiting to uncover. We have also been visiting the Western Desert Oasis, where some Roman forts still stand to a height of about 15 metres or so. We went by four-wheel-drive, but we still got stuck in a sand dune and had to dig ourselves out again. ;-) Now the campaign is almost over and I will soon be back home again. It is incredible how time is flying by here! I am looking forward to meet you and our favorite Elf and Ranger soon in Arda again. Till then, lots of love and warm hugs, your rodent :-) Author Reply: My dear, dear rodent, How wonderful to hear from you! I'd begun to wonder if we'd lost you to the desert sands. Sounds like you've had a very exciting and fruitful dig - I wonder if it ever feels eerie when you dig up something that old... Anyway, you must let me know if any of your discoveries are shown in some documentary on the Nat Geographic or Discovery Channel. Make sure you got your mug shot in there too, of course. I'll watch out for that bushy tail! So you'll be home again soon, and I'm happy for you. Now, if I didn't know you better, I'd say that this message from you doubled as a subtle way of asking for a new story, lol! But maybe not, which would be good, because I'm still struggling for time to write up the ideas whirling around in my mind, sigh... But story or no story, I do hope I get to hear from you again. You were missed. :-) Legolass

What a glorious ending. If I could have attached an Emoticon from another site to this email, it would have been of one bowing to you. Tari Author Reply: Author Reply: Tari, this is a long overdue reply. Thank you so much for all the reviews you left. I appreciate that you wrote them even though the tale had already been finished. Most of all, I'm really glad you enjoyed this tale that I loved writing so much. It's worth it when there are wonderful readers like you who love the characters as I do. I don't know that I can change names and publish the story, as so much of it is really based on Tolkien's earlier works. Perhaps when I retire from my full-time job now, I will take your suggestion into consideration and actually publish a story for money. :-) Thanks for all your encouraging words. If I ever find the time to write a new LOTR tale, I hope I will see you again. With much appreciation, Legolass

I don’t even know where to begin. Reading this story has been a truly awesome adventure for me. I hated to see it end. It was masterful, powerful, scary and beautiful. I love how the friendship grew between the men and elves. You gave Celeborn’s remaining behind real purpose. Legolas will always remain number one in my heart. Like you (I think), I consider myself to be an Elf. The strength of friendship shown is beyond anything I have ever experienced. I feel a bit lost now because there are no more of your stories to read. I only hope that someday time will allow you to write more. I would love to meet you in person someday. You will always remain one of my favorite authors, right up there with JRRT. I am sending this without having read the final chapter which I go to now. I don't know if there will be much more to say, just..... Thank you so much Tari

Remind me to breath. It's hard to do when reading this story. This chapter is why Legolas is my favorite character. He is amazing. I still think you should replace the Tolkien names with your own and send it to a publisher. Not only is it a wonderful read, but it would make an excellent movie. Thank you for taking the time to write it. Tari Author Reply: "Not only is it a wonderful read, but it would make an excellent movie." --- without meaning to sound conceited, I have to agree with you on this point, Tari. :-) I think In Shadow Realm WOULD make a great movie; I'm glad you think so too. I actually wrote it with all those spectacular scenes in the Haunted Mountain and Shelob's Cave playing in my head. Sigh... I wish some movie maker could read this and get the same idea. :-) In the meantime, this 'movie' will play in our minds and hearts. And you don't need tickets! Legolass

I became so upset while reading this chapter that I wanted to jump into the scene and beat the stuffings out of Fierthwain. What a totally hateful person he is. I can't wait to find out who will rescue Legolas and Elrohir. The sooner, the better. I hope Fierthwain and his cohorts get their just rewards for this evil deed. They are sooooo stupid. Tari

Wow!!!! You had me sitting on the edge of my chair. This is a real nail bitter. Tari Author Reply: Author Reply: On the edge of your chair... hope you didn't fall off, Tari! Thanks for that image. :-) Legolass

What an abosolutely BEAUTIFUL tribute to Sam and Frodo. Author Reply: Author Reply: Author Reply: Thank you, Tari, I'm glad you shared this tribute with me - though I think this review was meant for the previous chapter instead of this one. :-) Legolass

Here I am again. I find it difficult not to read this story whenever time is on my side. I found a bit of humor in this chapter which was certainly needed given the darkness of the tale. I especially loved "an expression dour enough to picke orcs". That really made me chuckle. Tari Author Reply: I wouldn't mind the power to pickle orcs myself. :-) Thank you for letting me know you liked that image too, Tari. Legolass

I am once again being attacked by a case of the chills. I thought for sure Elessar had sent the evil spirits away. But no, we are still left hanging. You are such a masterful story teller. All you would have to do is change the names and I a sure you could get this story published. How wonderful that would be. Tari Author Reply: Brrr... and the chills arent quite over yet, Tari. :-) Thank you very much for your vote of confidence about my writing. A few other readers have suggested the same thing. For now, all I can think about is LOTR fiction - but perhaps one day I will try and get something published. If I ever do, I will remember your words of encouragement. :-) Legolass
